Best shotgun for the money

Hey guys I was tossing the idea around of retiring the old mossberg 500 and buying a new shotgun to use specifically for hunting predators and turkeys. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I got the 870 super mag express and that gun is very rough. I would go with another 500 , a good condition single shot from the 40's(ie. Iver johnson), or a nova

Sounds like you maybe wanting a semi-auto. If so a Mossberg 930 is a good choice and uses the same choke tubes as the 500. Cheap and work, barrels are easy to come buy also.

If we are going the semi route, i would second the 930

Are you looking for another pump? Semi auto? OU? I personally prefer OU for wing-shooting and clay games. They seem to swing better and point where I'm looking if I get one that fits, which is great for snap shots at things that are flying. For turkey & yotes where you often aim rather than point, I like a semi auto. Beretta, Benelli, and the good old Remington 1100 series, maybe a synthetic stock in camo or a black one that you can paint seem like good choices. You can spend from $300-$700' used up to 5 or 6 times that for a nice field gun.
I think used shotguns are lower risk than used rifles - no rifling to damage or throats to shoot out & you can get into a pretty decent gun without spending a ton. Handle them if you can, and find one that feels right and points where you are looking when you bring it to your shoulder. Things like length of pull, cast off, balance, and drop will vary from one gun to the next, but handle or shoot several and you will find one that feels right. Get one with screw in chokes and you will be able to use them to get the pattern you want with turkey & coyote loads.

I got a stoeger M3500 semi auto I know with the factory turkey choke it will bust a thunder chicken at 50 yds with number 5's it's got the inertia drive like the benelli's for a third of the price been very pleased with it and it come in 26" and 28" barrels

Find a good quality reliable shotgun that fits you and patterns where you look then buy it regardless of the money.

The Mossberg 835 has an overbored barrel and will throw a much better pattern on oversized shot like BB or T, but you can get a 535 which will still shoot 3.5" shells for a few bucks less. Either one is a good choice and Ive personally got both and they work well.

My 835 also throws one heck of a pattern with #6 3,1/2" 2,1/4oz turkey loads.
But I would like to have a 935 for quicker follow up shots on geese and ducks.

I hope it will be a decent shotgun for $600.00 after rebate that includes tax. Won`t be able to give a review untill after Christmas Remington 11-87 super mag.
Oh boy...was looking at shot shell reloading equipment today.

It is unlikely that any shotgun is going to kill it more dead then that mossberg. For predators only the turkey model guns would be nice, short with a pistol grip. However, they are useless for other shotgun duty like wingshooting. A semi like the new franchi or beretta a300 would both make a fine all around gun at a decent price.
