without cost really being an issue, what would be the best and most complete starter kit to go with. im a newbie at this, so im looking for easiest to use, most complete, and also best quality. i definately dont want something thats a piece of junk or flimsy to use. is one brands equipment better than others? thanx!

I picked up a "RCBS RC Supreme Master Reloading Kit" a couple of years ago for about $239. They are up over $300 now, but I think Cabela's here may have them on sale again now for like $289. I have been very pleased with this purchase, so much so that I went on to buy the RCBS digital caliper, their vibratory, their bullet puller, etc. Had a problem with the bullet puller actually, but RCBS stood behind their product and swapped that out for me - no questions asked really. So good quality products, and good service & support.

I agree with DDJ. The breechlock system is very nice to use and their die sets do just fine with me. The scale is a bit dinky and I replaced it with the RCBS 10-10 scale. The powder measure is very good and quite accurate. Well worth the money IMO.

I have to go with RCBS. For several years all I have used is RCBS. And far as service goes I don't know of any business of any type that can out do them. Top notch.
For example just last week I had a 22-250 comp. die set
but no extended shell holder for it. I called up RCBS just to ask them what my options were and they said don't worry we'll send you one at no cost. Sat.it was in the mail box.

I will chime in with my two cents worth. I bought the lee set and replace the scale. the scale seemed to worked fine but I was lucky and found it to under weight by more then five full grains, if I didnt wieght a bullet to check for accuracy this could have been a real problem for me and my firearms. I dont want to think about loading 5 full grains over even a starting load. I do shoot some mighty fine groups with the whammo I produce with my lee press. the powder measure is as accurate as I need as I set it a little light and trickel it to the right wieght,
have fun and I hope you dont think you will safe any money, but you will SHOOT A LOT MORE!

I like the lee kit except for the toy scales. If money is not an issue then I would go ahead and buy a RCBS Ruckchucker kit or the Hornady lock and load kit.

I bought the RCBS kit quite a few years back and have been very pleased with it. I've got a Hornady progressive that does the bulk of my ammo now but the RCBS single stage does all my high power rifle loads and hunting ammunition.

I am glad to hear about the Lee kit this is the one I am looking to get. Being on a tight budget it seems to be the best bet! Rp

If you are on a tight budget get the RCBS Rock Chucker supreme kit. You won't have to replace anything in it and it will last till you can't use it any more. It's top of the line equipment, built strong enough to crush rocks, and will produce top quality ammunition. It's only a little more than the Lee and has a life time guarentee from RCBS. Something, anything, breaks (not likely but it can happen), your fault, their fault, anybodies fault, doesn't matter, they will send you a new part no questions asked. Their customer service and Dillon's are the best in the business. Period.

If you are looking for quality go with RCBS, if you are on a tight budget Lee, the only Lee products I have are 1set of dies and a few factory crimp dies for handguns. The Lees will definitly get the job done.

+2 for Youngdon! Like he said and I mentioned on your original posting....save yourself hassle (not to mention money) and grief and go with RCBS. And remember, you get what you pay for! In fact, consider going down to your local reloading supply store and compare products by the different manufacturers. The quality will be instantly apparent and the final decision will be up to you. Personal likes and dislikes are the reason why these different companies stay in business. All these guys can give you advice, but until you start using the equipment and getting a feel for it, you won't know for sure what you like and don't like. Thats why I have two complete manufacturers set-ups. I simply screwed up the first time!

RCBS for me...i jsut bought my second press kit from them (had to sell the first for $$ reasons) and i jsut bought the Rock Chucker kit...this thing gives you everything you need to start other than dies and components....i got mine on sale at cabelas for 289 and i am very happy with it...comes with a great scale in the 5-0-5 that will go from .01 grain to 505 grain...great for fine tuning your load....the press is rock solid and RCBS customer service is fantastic

I asked this question last year... RCBS was what everyone recomended. Soon as I get a house to set up a spot I'm going to get the RCBS to get started

looking at natchezss.com...they have the RCBS Chucker kit on sale at $289
looking at cabelas.com...they have the RCBS Supreme kit at $289 plus $30 off for orders over $150
oh yeah...i cast my vote for RCBS....

Just a note on the Lee scale. At first I thought is was awkward and a little difficult to set up but once I got used to it set up became a breeze. I've checked it against my digital and check weights and found it to be repeatedly very accurate. It really has become my go to scale. Dave
