Billet upper receiver?

Is the extra cost of a billet upper receiver worth it? Is it much lighter what exactly are the benefits I found one for $160 getting close to putting together my upper just have a few more things to decide on so far I have a 20" YHM fluted 1-9 barrel, RRA light varminter gas block and tube. So I still need to decide on the receiver and the forearm. I have a regular stripped upper receiver already but might use it on another build that's why I was kinda lookin at the billet one if it's not worth the extra cost I will just use the extra one I got.

I thinks the biggest difference is cosmetics. I could be wrong but I think they both are going to be about the same weight. If you have one I would just use it and finish the build and if anything try a billet on the next build.

Thanks for the info think i will go with the one I got the more I got to thinkin about it I should use the extra money on my scope.

The billet upper will have alot more beef and parts tend to fit better and give you that warm fuzzy..Obviously when they mean the term "billet" it means its all CNC cut from soild material..most every other upper is extruded to shape then hit with tooling to clean it up and make it to specs..
Guys who usually do a 24"+ bull barrel build reap the benefits as the billet upper gives it the beef and no chance of flexing or pressure on the upper..
The billet upper is also going to add more weight then an extruded one..
Sounds like your wanting to do a billet VLTOR upper?
With your 20" build, and i assume your making a varmint rifle..You will hardly know the difference..save your cash for better optics!
Just another perspective..

To add to what's been said, unless the billet upper is cut from a forged
block it is likely no stronger than a forging unless it's been left a lot thicker.
Forgings are stronger in about any part made from any material. Almost all
uppers are forgings other than a few cheapie cast ones.
