Bino help!

Im pretty partial to my sightron's and have never looked through the steiner's but i know many people on here love them. Can you tell me why steiner?

Well I went to the local Cabela's on Tuesday to help a buddy out with similar question. What binoculars for under $1000.00. And atleast 10X power

I looked through

Steiner Predator Extreme ~999.00

Cabela's Euro HD (Meopta) ~ 999.00

Vortex Viper HD ~ 599.00

Vortex Viper ~ Don't remember

Nikon Monarch X ~ 450 ish

Swaro SLC ~ 1800.00 ish

Leica (don't remember the model) ~ 1700.00 ish

Vortex Kiabab 15 power 1200.00

I know he wasn't going to buy the Leica or Swaro but I needed a good baseline and here is MY observations with MY eyes.

Swaro and Leica were the clearest and brightest but not buy much (very little compared to some and definitely not $1200.00 to $700.00 dollars better)

Of those from $1000.00 and below here is how I would rank them for ME

Cabela's Euro HD (Meopta) > Vortex Viper HD > Steiner Predator > Nikon Monarch X > VOrtex Viper

Personally I wouldn't pay the extra money for the steiner. My FIL has an older pair and I have not been that impressed and the new ones just didn't impress me for the money. To MY eyes the Vortex HD was better in every way for $400.00 less.

I will say the eye cups on the Predator are nice it helps block out the light and are comfortable but the glass clarity, CA, and Pinch were not as good as the Cabelas' Euro HD (Meopta) or Vortex Viper HD.

If you want good reviews head over to the "birding" forums. Those guys are crazy about binoculars and have some good reviews on them.

YMMV I hope this helps

Well i plunged and ordered a pair of c5's from camerland. They had a special on them and picked them up for 469. I hope they meet my expectaions since I am very very fond of the sightrons but I decided to take a chance on some German glass.

Burris Optics -

sorry I had looked through these ones

499.00 compared to 999.00 makes a big difference.

OP I hope the Bino's work out for you. I know I use them more than the scope but good ones help out a ton
