Hey guys, what are you using for a bipod for your shotgun. Im looking for something to just keep the barrel from laying in the snow or dirt. when I have my rifle up.

Cheers!!

If you need one? What the others said...I use a 12 gauge quite a bit to hunt coyotes, fox, etc......but I've never gotten used to using sticks of any kind using a shotgun. Rifle, yes. At least for me, my shots are usually in the 50yd range. Regards, Rick

Not for shooting with. Just to hold the gun upright and out of the dirt.
I like that squeeze clamp idea.

But I think Led Johnson has the right idea. Shotgun in hand for the hard chargers and rifle next to you on sticks for those that hang up farther out when there is more time to switch weapons.

I usually just pick one or the other to carry from the vehicle depending on the terrain of that stand.

I tried the clamp deal on my 870 and it was fine, until... I took a shot and racked another one. Clamp came off. Second coyote stopped at 200. Had to just lay the 870 down in the dirt to switch guns. Wasn't actually any big deal. And can likely be avoided with a little more thought and care. But, it did reveal to me that the clamp isn't the greatest solution.

In some old posts here there was a little bipod made exactly for this. Went around the barrel of the shotgun. I don't think they are made anymore though. I could not find them anywhere now, at least. But if anyone does find a more robust and elegant solution than the clamp, I'll be interested.
