bipod question

i will be buying a bipod for my rock river ar 15 today most likely harris 13.5 to 27 inch swivel model is harris the way to go and do i need any extra attachment to fit my gun when i look it up it say its for bolt actiion rifles and what about for the sling and do these come off and on easily thanks
 
I installed a bid-pod stud in the forearm for my AR. I use the Harris brand and have always been pleased with this quality product. The "shorty" is my choice for bench rest shooting and the model you describe is used for hunting. The longest shot I've ever made was via a 7mm Mag and using a Harris bi-pod whilst deer hunting in Wyoming. I like the bi-pod because it is attached and if I had shooting sticks sooner or later I'd set them down and walk off!

You will need a stud like for a sling awivel, Harris makes an adaptor for the AR though I have not used one on an AR though. I have used Harris on my bolt action Varment rifles
 
I have a Harris on my AR. I don't presently have a sling on it, but plan to in the future. The only adapter it looks like I need is to attach the sling, as the bipod presently occupies the sling stud. Harris is the way to go, when it comes to bi-pods.

The Harris bi-bod provides a spot to hook a sling-swivel, after the bi-pod is attached to the sling-swivel stud on the gun.

I had a harris on my AR with a standard two piece handguard. Worked great! Required an adaptor though, it cost $10.
