Bipod vs. Shooting Sticks

made shooting sticks by putting two dal rods togeter with cotter pins and they worked good but my brother just bought a cauldwell bipod and says they are alot steadier.

LeviSS, the height of your IL. grass and weeds will make bipods all but useless. On top of that, even assuming you can see, if you have to swing to either side the permanently attached bipod will snag and drag and make quick and quiet repositioning all but impossible.

All of that said, bipods are great if you can find a place to use them.

Plain old sticks are hard to beat. Large range of motion, easy to drop if you need to swing to either side, etc...

If i'm out snipeing fox or coyotes then i like to use the bi-pods, but for calling i prefer shooting sticks like the ones E.L.K. products sell..

I love the harris bipod.Out of the way and one less thing to carry in the woods.Anything to hold your rifle steady would seem fine for me.

One big point. Al's sticks can easily be made into a Mono Pod for shooting while standing. Harris or any of the others can not do this.
