Woodpecker sounds are great at night.

My real name is rick too!
I live in Pennsylvania and in my area I have a lot or gray fox. What the predator hunters like to use for gray fox here is to start out first with a rabbit distress call, then follow up with a gray fox pup call sequence. If the gray fox pup sound does not work (it usually does), then the call of a gray fox and coyote fight or gray fox and red fox fight is used.
A bird call used at night is OK to use as well. Owls hunt roosting birds at night and the if one is caught, the distressed bird will make just as much noise in the night if it was caught by a hswk in the daytime. When a fox hears a distressed bird, it is still the "dinner bell" calling. Go ahead and give it a try!
Try and use a game call that matches the available prey animals in your area. If there are a lot of rabbits, use a distressed rabbit. If you have a lot of pheasants, use a distressed bird. Also, some grouse will hide out in a hole in the snow when the snow is deep enough.
Try not to use all CAPITAL LETTERS when you reply because it is sign language that you are shouting. Just one more pointer. Let us know how you make out.

Some areas get so much calling pressure that a change is just the ticket.
The word is out on the "Gray Fox Pup in Distress" sound, YES-it really works. And everybody calls using a mouth call or an e-call imitating a dying rabbit.
In areas like this, I have seen Grays come in with wreckless abandon to a Blue Jay in Distress or Woodpecker sound, imagine that. Yes at night.
Experiment- shop around.
