Blind Heater?

I have a spot I have been baiting. I was wondering what people use to keep warm. Im thinking of setting up my pop up blind and using my colman catalytic heater. would this be ok or will it scare of the coyotes? hate to call and ruin the bait so figure i would try to sit it first. figure i would try and get in the blind before dark and stay as long as i could.

I have no experience with hunting coyotes from a blind, but using my active imagination...

Seriously- how far from the bait are you? How noisy is the heater? If the heater is dead quiet and you're 100 yards away, I think you'd be okay.

No way to find out for sure but to try it.

Instead of heating the whole blind, though, what about heat packs in your coveralls?

Need to get a camera first almost bought one the other day but had to buy gifts. I have two but their both broken cant figure out whats wrong with them. plus in mass they tend to get stollen or broken people dont respect others things around here. someone shot my buddys cam and people are still tresspassing on another buddys land even thought its posted.

I don't know about it at night, but I've killed several coyotes while deer hunting in a pop up blind with my Buddy Heater running.
Last year I killed 2 within an hour the first morning of deer season. The fartherest was about 40 yards.
I think it's still all about the wind.

Ditto on the buddy heater. If there is a smell from it they don't seem to care. Matter of fact most home in rural areas are heated with LP so they could be use to the exhaust if it puts off any odor.

I use mine deer hunting in pop up and permanant blinds all the time.

Not sure if any of you have looked into it, but they make a 5 lb Propane tank. Dependent upon size of your heater and how hard you're running it, they'll run a good while. I bought one for ice-fishing tournaments because it was much to drag on and off the ice. With a single burner Mr. Heater, regular old fish house heater, it'd run 2 - 4 hours constant at full ouput. Lot easier to drag to remote spots than a 20lb cylinder.

There are 2 models, one being a pancake tank, just the top and bottom of regular 20pounder welded together, and there's a regular small cylinder, looks just like it's bigger counterpart, but only 7 - 8 inches in diameter. Fun to carry in and get filled too. That model runs $45 - $50 for the tank. I bought the latter as it fit into my sled full of goodies much better!!

ive never used a blind, but I have used heat packs.

What I do is get a few of the wrap arounds for your back.
use over a light shirt, they get hot enough to keep your coffee warm and heat up a can of soup.

toss a foot one in each boot and keep a few spares in the backpack and im usually set. I have a handwarmer that holds heatpacks as well.

If you can keep your head and your core warm, generally speaking your feet and hands will be warmer as well, circulation is better, etc.

Good luck with the heater.
let us know if it works, I dont use one but still like to know what does and doesnt work LOL

use a little propane heater for deer hunting out of a ground blind all the time. once had a doe come withing 5 feet while the heater was running
