Blue Book of gun values??

Does anyone have a newer edition. Mine is several years old and I need some help looking up a rifle. If you can help me out please shoot me a PM. Thanks.........

Last time I checked, Blue Book doesn't own my guns, so I refuse to let them put a value on them. I don't pay any attention to them when it comes to cars, either. The value of an object is relative to the local market and what the market is willing to pay, not what a national publisher deems them to be worth. Just my humble opinion. Not trying to stir up a stink.

I tend to agree with CAFR on published values...By the time the information is collected, edited for accuracy, and then actually published and printed, the information in usually out of date...

I have a local gun dealer that, if you take one in to sell, will drag out a value book and offer the lowest stated value...Needless to say, mine that are for sale don't enter his shop...If he is trying to sell one, he will point to the "asking price" on Gunbroker, even though the item has no bids of interest..

I have family like that. A certain kin of mine ask to use my Benelli M2 for Deer Hunting and then after deer season offered to give me 500 for the weapon. He got really upset with me when I told him in his dreams.

I also agree. BB is merely a reference. The particular gun in question nearly always sells above it's BB value, as do several others. What BB says, what people list stuff for means nothing, really. What stuff actually sells for is better used for determining actual value, but it too is merely another reference.........

I normally find sellers think their stuff is worth the 100% Bluebook price even if gun is 80%, but buyers think the Bluebook is far over priced

I have already offered a guy a price that is far more than the BB price, but some rifles out there command prices over the BB price on a regular basis. It just depends on the rifle. When it boils down to it, the BB price means nothing and what makes both parties happy is the deciding factor.....

Wow. Very well stated. Took the words right out of my mouth!

I think the Blue Books is very good.....for starting fires, wiping private areas of your body after certain bodily functions. But for pricing firearms, its worthless if your selling. Right along with internet pricing. There's is gold, yours is junk, until they steal it, then it somehows turns into gold. JMO
