Blued or Stainless barrel

Better for what? It seems to me that most competitive shooters are using SS. I've been shooting BR for 18 yrs and can't ever remember seeing a CM bbl. on the line.

The biggest advantage to a SST barrel is the ease with which the bore cleans, compared to CM. SST has less affinity for collecting copper fouling.

Other than that, there are no substantial differences.

I put moly-fusion in my Tactical.20 barrel and have not had any copper fouling since.
I was wondering the same thing about ss barrels-regular ones. Which one lasts longer with hot loads? Which one is less likely to get throut erosion?T.20

though i have heard this somewhere before, just what is the lowdown on the SST vs CM as far as barrel life is concerned

stainless is less suceptable to erosion due to it's metalurgy (that is all the further I can begin to explain that!!) and the stainless has a greater "lubricity" property. As Eddie stated, I have also yet to see a single CM barrel in any match other than factory class.

am currently running a lvsf in 17 rem, its a SST maybe just as well due to the hot nature of this little round, any one have any ideas what life i could expect with this barrel i have fired maybe 800 rds never let it get hot allowing time for cooling between shots, just curious

CM barrel steel has more impurities in it, thus is susceptible to increased barrel erosion. SS is softer and must be treated accordingly (use only coated, one piece cleaning rods...no segmented rods AND certainly no steel rods). Hope this helps.
