Bobcat box trap info needed

Hello all, I am new to trapping. I have a 15"x15"x36" Bridger live trap. I am looking for a book, or any other info to help me with my sets. In the past i have used meat for bait, bobcat gland, and urine for attractors with no luck. Looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

You are using a live trap for a bobcat? How are you handling your sets? Are you keeping them steril? I have done alot of trapping with leg holds and connibears so I could probably give you some guidance on that but live traps for bobcats are new to me. your bait and lure should be effective as long as you keep all of the human scent off your set and effectively disguise your trap. Bobcats are funny critters when it comes to trapping. My best success was using a step log and a couple of #2 victor jumps.

Hey,
I have done a lot of live trapping for bobcats but it has been mostly using a live chicken. You can build a small add on cage on the back of your trap that will hold a chicken. Just make sure that you use wire with small holes so no animals will be able to reach in and grab or harm the chicken. Here in Texas i use two traps at a time. I will have two traps set approx 30-50 yards apart with a rooster in each one. Set the traps where they cannot see each other. They will crow back and forth at each other and draw the varmints in. I have caught several cats using these traps as well as a couple of grey fox, and lots of raccoons.
Later,
JR
