Bobcat mount prices?

I found a taxidermist who I may like to use, who looks to do good work on cats. I have a brother in the area who will double check his work (drop in for a visit).

He wants $650 for a Bobcat "rug", and about $1100 for a custom habitat full mount.

How do these prices sound? A little high is fine, as it seems not easy to find someone who does good work on cats. As I haven't had an animal to a taxidermist in 20 years, I haven't a clue on proper prices.

Thanks!

I hope I picked out a good one to do my bobcat. He charges 500 for a full body mount. It should be done soon. I'm sure hopeing he did a good job. I've seen some terrible stuff from other guys.

$1100.00 is on the top end for sure. however if the taxidermist does good work you will not be disappointed. prices on a cat will run from $350.00 to the top end of around $1200.00. the $350.00 cat is not what you want. just remember there are yogo's and there are porches.

I am currently having a full body mount done. 600 is the base price and I had to order the enclosed case for another 180. I have a lot of mounts and am very picky about who does them. Quality comes first. You get what you pay for.

Thats is at the high end but he wouldn't get away with charging those prices unless he did good work so if you can afford it i would probaly do it.

My Taxidermist does a full body for around $475 and up depending on base and such. He does great work. Rugs are around $275-350. Those prices sound kinda high.

I would also like to get a cat done for the top of the entertainment center.
Some of the best work i have looked at is from this guy.
Here is a link to some photos of his work.

Dog catcher has it on the money. Lonnie Travis does beautiful work on cats and is very reasonably priced. I'm a taxidermist as well, but specialize in gameheads. I have no problem referring any customer to Travis Taxidermy, especially on cats.

Thanks for the responses.

I may give Lonnie Travis a call as well. While it is hard to judge by pictures sometimes, his mounts look fairly good.

I guess if it comes to a "once in a lifetime cat" that has a very nice pelt, or is very large, I'll go with the first taxidermist, Weller's Wildlife in Tucson, AZ . The guy lives close to my brother, and I got a couple rcomendations on him, though I've not personally seen his work. The photos of his mounts look very good. Nice detail and body posturing.

If it's an average cat, maybe I'll give Lonnie Travis a try, and if it turns out, give him future cats.

I guess I at least know enough at this point that I'll be comfortable taking a bobcat should I happen to call any more in.
