Book on Carlos Hathcock?

Well I have read both books on him:
Marine Sniper... 93 confirmed kills
&
Silent Warrior

Silent Warrior was all the stories that never made it into Marine Sniper but are all just as great.

Anything I have read about Hathcock has been well worth it. The guy was simply amazing.

Another sniper book you might want to check out is: "Shooter" by Gunnery SGT. Jack Coughlin and Capt. Casey Kuhlman with Don Davis.

Jack Coughlin used his precision shooting all over the world. His work in Operation Iraqi Freedom was incredible. Excellent reading.

I only read Marine Sniper: 93 confirmed kills.

Those of you that have read more than one book on Carlos I have a question. Is it like different books, or is it the same story told by different people? I apologize for hijackin but I would like to know if I should continue to read Carlos books untill I have read em all or just stop reading now since I already read one.

There was an interview with him on John Plaster's video "Ultimate Sniper" It was cool to see just how much of a regular good-ol-boy Hathcock was. Just the kinda guy you'd find out popping coyotes, or at the diner having a cup of coffee, you know? He'd tell about how the scenario was playing out and how this enemy soldier was getting into such and so position, then he'd say, "...so I dumped him..." Just so non-chalant. No ego on the guy. (Wish I hadn't sold that video!)

I've read everything I can get my hands on that tells Hathcock's story. No matter how it is told it is a story of an incredible man.

I just found a new "sniper" book called "SHOOTER". It is the autobiography of Gunnery Sgt. Jack Coughlin, USMC. Has anyone read it? I plan on starting it this weekend as I have to spend several hours on an airplane.

My wife picked up SHOOTER at MCAGCC when she worked there and it is an excellent read. Too bad I loaned it to some OF
and he left with it. I need to get another one.

I just finished Marine Sniper. Wow! What an amazing man! It's too bad his career ended like it did. Is he still alive? I thought I heard somewhere that he died. Does anybody know if his son took on the family business? I'm gonna read Shooter next. Thanks everybody for the suggestions!

I think he died about 5 years ago, but it may have been longer.
The road that goes by the rifle ranges at Quantico is named for him. He did a lot of shooting there with the USMC Marksmanship Unit.

Yes Doc, he passed away on my birthday, 02/23 in 1999. He had suffered from MS for years, was largely bedridden for the last couple and finally died of a kidney infection.

You can get a video of that interview, the only one he ever did on camera, here: http://www.navysealteams.com/hathcock.htm

He had three bioghraphies written about him, "Marine Sniper" and "Silent Warrior", both by Charles W. Henderson and the "authorized" biography, "White Feather: Carlos Hathcock USMC Scout Sniper" by Roy F. & Norman A. Chandler.

Whatever you do, if you haven't read one of these books do so. Its an incredible story about an incredible American.

However, if you are at all like me, I guarantee you won't stop at reading just one book about Carlos.
