RIP, Boyd.
He was always one of my favorites back in the 80's, he was turning out some pretty spectacular rods before his TV show turned up.
What a shame.

World-renowned tuner and hot rod king Boyd Coddington died at 6:20 am this morning. The cause of death is still unknown. Coddington, founder of Boyds Wheels and designer of prize-winning custom cars, had recently been hospitalized twice for an undisclosed medical condition. Although he was though to be in recovery, rumors of his untimely death began circulating today throughout the forums. A spokesperson for Boyd Coddington's corporation has confirmed to Jalopnik that those rumors are true. The company will be releasing a statement later today.

I hadn't heard this...he always seemed like one of the good guys.
He put out some smokin' rods over the years. Although I think my fave was back in '83. A hand-made Duece body on a custom chassis. Had an '83 Buick turbo-V6 in it. Don't remember what he called it. He always seemed to have a name for his cars.

Wow, I watch the show all the time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I didnt here about this either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My Regrets, Dave

While watching his show I've wondered about his general health many times. He just didn't move right for a healthy man. I'm sorry he's gone.

He hacked up some really nice old iron on the show. I liked his finished cars, but it was difficult to watch his shop practicly destroy what makes the older cars interesting for me. And watching him blow up engines and drive trains before bringing the car into the shop to be chopped was difficult.

Yea,
He go sick a few months ago but came home and was said to be all better.
Didn't work out I guess.
I sure liked him alot more before the TV show when he was more into putting out some of the hottest rods around instead of making an Orange County Choppers take off.
He really was one of the innovaters in the industry and an artist to boot.
I got to hang out with him on many occasions with my dad before he died and seeing Boyd on TV was always a big deal because it reminded me of him so much.
Very sad he's gone.
In his own words (hopefully) "chrome got him home"
