Boyd's Savage Model 11 stock

Maybe someone here will know the answer since Boyd's has never given me a response. I have a Savage model 11 with bottom bolt release and it uses the Axis style mags. I am aware that if you want to use one of their stocks, you have to buy bottom metal and mag. The thing I can't understand is if they make a stock for the axis with a mag well that will accept the Axis type of magazine with the plastic clip, why can they not make one for the model 11 that has the same setup as the axis, only with the bottom bolt release? Is it because of the bottom bolt release or is it just that there is not enough of a market for model 11 stocks like there is axis stocks? Anyone know? My gun shoots just fine how it is, but I always wanted to try one of their Pro Varmint stocks for it but don't want to spend $100 on a stock and another $100-250 on factory or aftermarket bottom metal. Thanks.

The blind magazine type of stock uses the same magazine, feed and spring as the removable type, it just does not have the bottom plastic or metal clipped to the bottom of it. It is held in place with a tab that goes under the rear action screw. You may be able to just switch from a removable magazine type of stock to a blind magazine type and have one that fits. Larry

On some of the early model 11 trophy hunters they used an axis style magazine,& a removable bottom that was made of plastic along with a plastic trigger gaurd,
I changed one out & went with the metal bottom & trigger gaurd,as well as the steel mag bottom.
If your interested in the plastic I can go to savages website and enter the serial number from that rifle and get you the correct part number, and assume it would be a lot cheaper than the steel version.

HERE YOU GO
FRAME, SHORT, SYN, MATTE (DBM) - PN: 109400 $14.00
FRONT ACTION SCREW (DBM & HF) - PN: 105829 $2.00
Rear. ACTION SCREW 5/32 HEX - PN: 102792 $2.00
these parts work with the magazine release on the front bottom of the magazine axis style,
Also VERY IMPORTMANT there are two metal pieces that act like washers/spacers for the action screws so the plastic isn't smashed/broken. I think the part number is PN: 108702 at $2.OO EACH ,but ask the sales person and theY can get you set up with those.

the only difference from the steel floor plate is the mag release is built into the bottom front of the steel one.& when going steel parts you have to change the mag bottom.
.
otherwise it should be a direct fit in the boyds stock if you have the bottom release trigger guard.
savage arms order line number 1-800-370-0708
hope this helps you out

Willie
forgot to mention that these are for the short action model 11 4.4 action screw spacing so anyone with 111 long action needs different parts
