Boyds stocks

Lots of post here on Boyds stocks, try the search. I have a couple and like them but will have one for sale soon for a Sav SA stagger feed.

They are first rate. I have had and currently have several. Fit and finish has always been dead on. There are some folks that complain about them and maybe they really did have problems, but there are also some folks that would bawl like a fat dog if you hung them with a brand new rope too. Some people just cannot be satisfied with anything and they are going to complain no matter what.

I have two Savages, both in Boyd's stocks. No complaints here. Have had several others also. My only complaint is their new web site. I don't care much for it.

I’m gonna order one for my savage model 25 soon, once I make up my mind exactly the style I want.

Not that I have any accuracy issues with that rifle, it shoots sub MOA with factory loads (.22 Hornet)... just want it to look better

The At-1 looks perfect, except the top of the comb is too low, thereby increasing more felt recoil than if it had been designed higher and straight back. I need a stock for my Tikka T3x because to the factory stock design that increases recoil, needlessly so with the sloping down of the top of the comb.
Manners (And others) stocks have a high comb design that accomplishes this so well that they router out the top of the comb for bolt removal. Why can't other manufacturers figure this out? You either have a rifle with iron sights or you don't. And if you are going to design a stock from scratch, then do it with maximum befit effects.

I have a classic pepper laminate on my Stevens 200 in 22-250 and a checkered walnut (prarie hunter) on my Savage Axis 223. Both fit an finish are incredible. Both are free floated nicely, accuracy is .3 inches with my 22-250 and about the same with my 223 with my handloads. If I remember correctly they were both about 16 dollars to ship to CA. I have really been impressed with them. The classic has a low comb though, I put a kydex riser on it.

For a decent, relatively inexpensive, wood laminate option, the Boyd's are hard to beat. I have a couple Boyd's Pro Varmint stocks on rimfires and a Rimfire Hunter on one of my CZ 527's. The Pro Varmint has a higher comb so they were good to go but the rimfire hunter didn't have a high enough comb for my setup on the CZ 527 so I added an adjustable cheek piece just like the one bmoore put on his Boyd's Classic.

I just put one of their AT-ONE stocks on a gun for my dad. It's a pretty decent stock and has a lot of good ideas/features, especially considering what they cost, but they kinda have a weird-ish grip and they used these plastic panels on the grip as well as the forearm that I could have done without and would have preferred it just being all wood instead.

I got one...then found out my trigger guard wouldn't work from my factory stock so had to order one to fit... $12 then they charged me $16.88 for shipping...so $28.88 for a trigger guard. Never again will I spend a penny with this ripoff company. And this is after the sales rep told me shipping would only be $9....several times she repeated it. Never again. Ripoff company....fool me once...shame on you.

Same here. The new site is much more difficult to navigate.

My Savages came with laminated stocks, so cannot vouch the fit
for them. However, I have a half dozen on other rifles, and am
well pleased. I do pillar and bed them prior to using them,
though. But then, I do that with any stock, including
factory.

I love those Boyds stocks as well.... but they have to re-do that crazy website... what were they thinking... it is way more difficult to navigate around in... they should go back to the old one.

The shipping is kinda high but I wouldn't say they are a rip off company. Where else can you get a nice solid stock, completely finished for $150 bucks?

Nowhere. I agree with you, a nice laminate stock shipped to your door for 160......hard to beat. Once you add something to cart you can check the shipping, if it is too high, don't buy it. Or do what I did and call them, they picked up on the second ring and explained that the high shipping for the trigger guard was a mistake. When I put it in my cart the second time the shipping was like 8 bucks.

$16.88 shipping.....for a trigger guard. $3 priority mail bubble envelope.....the trigger guard cost $12. Let that sink in.

Hey do your homework before buying. No one twisted your arm and made you buy it did they? Maybe you should let that sink in. I NEVER order online. I call and ask questions first, then place my order....over the phone.

Yep I get it, I called them and they corrected it. It was pretty darn easy. They admitted that it was a mistake.

I switch my T3 from factory stock into a Boyds laminated thumbhole ever winter ; for longrange coyotes; Lonestar 4.5x18 FFP scope on top.
