Hey Fellow Yote Slayer,
I work for the Texas Wildlife Svcs., so I've been at this a minute or 2. Yotes are just like any other wild creature...just some are smarter than others. Okay most are! Breeding depends on alot of variables. Seems out west (Texas) they start around the end of February and peak about mid-April. You'll definitly know by the increase of single dogs (males) on the move...kinda like a deer rut. Then they slow a bit until the pups are on the ground. Mom and Pop usually hang together until the pups are old enough to tag along with the Jip. 2 of my favorite times to hunt, well 3 actually, are the breeding season (more movement activity among horny males....we all lose it over the thought of fresh poot-n-nanny!), the pup stage (run up on a den and mom and/or pop can't resist a pup squall not to mention all those gangly pups out searching for trouble when the folks are out.....kinda like thae "teenage years"), and lastly, the Fall catch-outs (They're moving more to establish new territories!).

Also jips are enviromentally correct. They produce less pups in lean years and in East Texas they seem to stay packed up longer.

Good Luck on those mangy goat killers!
