I've never owned a Browning ABolt before but I just picked up a sweet little one used for a great price. Couldn't pass it up. Two small nicks in an otherwise pretty wood stock. .204 Ruger very small rifle 22" barrel very light

What can you tell about what I bought. Pros/cons

Can't wait to see how it shoots.

Same here. My gun safes are full of Brownings from a 17 Ackley Hornet, 22 Hornet, 204, 222,223, (2)243's( BAR and A Bolt).

My 204 loves the 39 gr Blitzking over top of 26gr of Benchmark, as he said, little bitty teeny tiny groups.

Sounds pretty encouraging. I am impressed with the gun already. Very nice factory bedding job, smooth bolt with short throw and a very decent stick of wood it sets in. From the serial # it an A bolt II and small action.

I have this same rifle and absolutely love it. It was a little finicky to find a load for, but then I am new to reloading.

Now that I have a good load, all is well !

Going to start out with 35 gr Bergers and RL10x since I have an abundance of both. That combo worked well in my previous .204s

Ditto....I'm thinking they only made the Browning A-bolt Hunter. .204 for a short time and I thought it was for the special Shot Show they have each year?I know a Friend that has one NIB but won't sell it...I found another one in the Micro-Hunter and I'm still kicking myself for not putting money down on it!

I've heard they are great shooting Rifles...I have a Browning A-bolt Hunter in a .243 and it's one of my favorite and best shooting Rifles I own!

Mine measures as a Micro Hunter with the 21" barrel and short length of pull. I'm a tall guy but I really like smaller rifles and the short LOP doesn't bother me at all in light chamberings.

This one cost me $450 and came with a cheap Nikon scope. It's pretty nice save for a couple nicks in the stock. The winter project will be a refinish job.

Well sorry guys that was a failed attempt to post a pic of my new X bolt 204 in mossy oak brush.. i hate trying to post pics on these sites, it can be a pure pain in the A$$..

In general, I find Brownings to be very accurate rifles, without being very picky on loads. My previous 243 was a Medallion and my son has a 223wssm Stalker. Both were very easy to find accurate loads for.

Keep us posted as to your results with it.

Posting a pic from a puter is easy from my phone is more difficult. I want to see the xbolt pic

Got a chance to take the little rifle out today and get it dialed in. Picked out a mid range load that I had worked up for a previous project rifle. 35 gr. Bergers and a mid level load of RL10x. Once I had it on paper, even with the cheap Nikon scope it was easily a .75" gun and this was cold and a bit windy. Looking to upgrade the optics and get it out on a better day but for now its going hunting with me tomorrow.
