Does any one have one of these? (a browning .223 a-bolt)

I have one that I can get to shoot into 1 1/2" groups at 100 yrds.
I realize that is considered a typical size group for a sporter weight gun........but, I'd like to get better.

I do reload for it , I'm a little baffled and could use your advice. I'm ready to trade this in on a Tikka .223.

Thanks

Mine is in 25-06. I was wondering what powders and bullets you have tried. I was also curious if you can easily seat out to the lands? My 25-06 has a surprisingly short leade. I have loaded quite a bit for 223 and tried lots of stuff. I have had great luck with W748 and H335. Most of my 223s like either the 52 grain Berger or Sierra MK best. Not sure what your twist is, mine are all 1 in 12. I like seating bullets within .015" of the lands if possible, the longer the better.

I was doing a bit of looking and I'm thinking your gun has a 1 in 8 twist. Might like the 55 grain bullets and up best, that might also affect which powders to choose as well.

right now im shooting my dads Browning a bolt micro medalion .223 and today i took 2 different loads. one was some norinco fmj older than me and everything so my dad said shoot it up (for every 5 shots at least 1 is a bad bullet wont ignite) and then i took some of his handloads that he claimed worked for that gun and it wouldnt shoot the handloads worth anything i was all over. i popped a few of the cheap fmj rounds in and had a pretty good group for my shooting ablilty. but like said before me ours seems to like the 55 grain bullets best

Check to see that the barrel is free floated. Those light barrels can not take the contact of the stock. Maybe your crown is not good. Could be the bedding or trigger pull to heavy. I put a timney 2 pound spring in mine and that might help. Good luck.

I load for my Dad's A-bolt 223 it loves 40gr Sierra Blitzking 26gr of Benchmark powder in Winchester case with a fed. match primer. Ya may want to give that load a try it has been very effective in his. Hope this helps it is a nice little gun to shoot.
That being said the Tikka is a fantastic shooter as well I loved mine in the 204 the only thing I did not like was the Tikka 1 size fits all action so I went to the CZ and love it!
