Browning SA-22 - Any owners out there?

Do any of you own one of those sweet little takedown SA-22 Browning autos?

What are these little babies like? My father always wanted one, but never could justify the price. Do they shoot well? Any huge downsides?

OK, next question: Anyone have any experience stripping off that terrible Browning high-gloss finish? I HATE that crap, I have no idea why they do this. I want a nice oil finish like my Browning Superlight.

Any thoughts?

I own the grade II with the octagon barrel and oil finshed stock. Very nice rifle and pretty accurate out to my plinking range of 25-50 yds.

I've always wanted one, but shied away because of their size. I'm 6'3"
I decided to go to a, shall I say, full sized 22......so I got a weatherby XXII. A few years ago I also got an older Rem 541-T-HB also full sized. They're both excellent shooters. The browning is too good for a kid, but they always catch my eye. Watchout for the Chinese knock-offs

I have a Belgium made Browning .22 short model (shorts is all it will shoot). It's a neat little rifle,
but not as accurate as what I like or am used to. I guess at close ranges for which the short is
designed for, it works ok. It's a neat squirrel round and I've also taken a couple of crows with it.
It mainly just sits in the gun rack and doesn't see much use.

I scoped mine, which aids with accuracy a bit.

Neat rifle, but I sold the one I owned after messing with it just a bit. It was just too dinky and small for good field shooting for me personally.

Mine is a japan browning, like 6mm-06 I don't feel it is wonderfully accurate but it is such a neat little rifle it has a permanent home. I put a Leupold 2-7 rimfire scope on it and it seems to fit it pretty well. I suppose comparing accuracy with a couple of CZ 452s does put it at a disadvantage.
