Looking into gettin a 22-250 and have been lookin hard at both of these rifles. I have a Howa Axiom and a Howa Model 1500 and both are great rifles dont have anything bad to say bout either. Also have owned a few Brownings and again great rifles no problems. Theres only bout a $50 difference in the MSRP value between the two.

Just out of curosity if you guys had the choice of either rifle which would it be and why?

Thanks,
Luke

I think I'd go for the browning. Why, because I've never owned a Browning. You see Howa's but how offen do you see a Browning? I just know there's someone sitting out there tired of looking at Brownings, but it's a rare occasion when I see them.

Came close to buying one for my first rifle but went with the Remington 700 because they could get it faster. I don't regret the Remington but I'd still like to own a Browning.

I also prefer heavy barreled rifles. I'm 63 and still carry my VS on hunts.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either gun here... My personal preference would be the Browning as I am partial to their action though.

I'd go Howa. There isn't much for browning after you buy em. I have shot quite a few Brownings and Howas. The 60* bolt is strange, but can get used to. But the smoothness of the Howa trumps the Browning. They are both [typically] accurate, no advantage there, IME. The Howas and Brownings come with adjustable triggers. I haven't shot one of the 2stage Howa rifles, so I can't comment on the trigger specifically. But in general, I don't like 2stage triggers.

All in all, I'd go Howa. Just personal preference from handling plenty of each.

Agreed

I have the Browning Varmint Stalker in 22-250. I was amazed at how accurate it was right out of the box. 5 shots in one little all touching cluster at 100 yards with 50 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and Varget. I have multiple group pics BTW, but they all look about the same.

Call me crazy, but I always consider resale when buying a firearm, in most cases. I believe the Browning will out sell the Howa. JMO

I have a Howa axiom in 22-250 and also have a browning x-bolt in 22-250 I like them both but I think after the trigger was done the Howa will outshoot the browning

The Howa resale value does suck. Last year I helped sell off the inventory of a closed gun shop. We sold a number of NIB Howa's below wholesale because they just don't have the name brand recognition of some other brands. Of course the Browning were higher priced guns, but we were able to get at least wholesale from the NIB Brownings. The Howa rifles are fine rifle though.

I had a Howa in .308win, didn't care for it.Traded it and some cash for a X-bolt in .308win. The X-bolt is a lot better gun, if I buy any more it will be a X-bolt.
