BSA sweet 223 scopes

Hey there,
During my research into optics for a new rifle I found that BSA has a "new" (it might only be new to me) scope that follows in the footsteps of the sweet 17 and sweet 22's. A buddy of mine has had great success with his sweet 22. I was wondering if anyone has info on the new 223 model.
Thanks Doug

I tried it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif and am embarresed to admit so. Trust me when I say it's no magic pill. Adjusting the drums to a specific yardage will get you close but thats about it. Might be ok for hunting purposes which is probably what you would be using it for, but don't think dialing the drum past your zero yardage will put you on a perfect POI.

And besides it's a BSA.........I think I just threw up a little.

I am one of the few that am really happy with bsa scopes. Sweet 17 is fantastic and dead on accurate. Dont know about the .223 version. I also have a 3-9x40 mildot on my 22-250 and .243. I also have a 3-9x50 illuminated on my muzzleloader. All three have held up very well. Are they as clear as a $500 scope. Of course not. But are the optics as clear and same quality as everything in the same price range. Definately. Probably better. The only one i know that is clearer in the same price range is mueller.

Ditto!

I put one on a Remington 700 SPS Varmint and it does better than I expected. But like Chupa said, don't expect to turn the dial and change to a dead on zero at another yardage. It will get you very close but not pinpoint.

Work with it and know your equipment and it might surprise you. I have a Sweet 22 on a 22 mag and using a different turret for the grain bullet I'm using, I have it figured out. (33 gr LR turret for a 40 gr mag bullet)

I have a BSA deerhunter I got on a trade rifle years ago and have used it on several rifles. My son laughs and says BSA means "best scope in america".We really like the Leupolds and the bushnells.I was really surprised how it has held up.I have been fighting the urge to try the sweet 223 on one of my rifles.I'an glad you made the post,I wondered if one of the shooters had tried one.

Hey there fellow fire capt, good to see another hose boy on here. Thanks for the info, and I hope your right and perhaps we can both learn more about this,,,and maybee it'll squelch that urge that I have as well!

Interesting read - might make you throw up again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There are in my opinion people on this earth that are here for one purpose only. That kid is most likely one of them. He can probably hit a gnat at 200 yards with a slingshot blindfolded. 8" at a 1000 yards is beyond impressive for most anyone much less a 12 year old.

Just say NO! Unless you are think of buying an old BSA motorcycle. Same company, but the scopes are not the same quality as the old motorcycles.
