Both of these scopes can be had for around $300.

It would be going on a 243win. that is used for less than 300yrd shots on coyotes, crows, etc. Not a lot of paper punching but I do some.

The buckmaster is currently on sale so it is less than the vx2.

I haven't been any place to look through them yet, but plan to do so.

Which is going to be the better of the 2???

Any others to consider for around $300???

Midway has weaver grand slam tactical 3-10 with 1/10 mildot for 299... not a bad option.

Natchez has weaver grand slams 4.5-14 for like 279...

I have a nikon buckmaster with mildot that i love. I think the weaver grand slams may have a bit better glass in them than the buckmaster. Leupolds are of course nice as well but you are going to pay more for less magnification. Just depends what you think you need.

Honesty, if you are willing to go an extra 50 bucks, natchez has the zeiss conquest 3-9 for $350. And the glass is going to crush the buckmaster or leupold.

Thanks for the info B442. appears natchez is out of the zeiss 3x9.

Here's another question I guess. You don't know me but i'm prone to "mishaps" it seems. Say you drop your gun or something and the bell of your scope gets smashed. Is leupold or nikon going to fix it under their warranty even though i'm the one that caused the damage? Is anyone going to fix it??

I guess I currently have a 4x12 on the gun and never have it on 12x unless I'm testing out new loads which I don't do very often. This is more of a hunting gun so was initially thinking Leupold 3x9 until I saw that cabelas had the BM on sale.

I do know that I want to look through them prior to buying, but was just curious if anyone had both scopes and could give any insight into whether they liked one over the other and why.

Same scope as a Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x, it's the Pentax Whitetail Hunter 4.5-14x, Pentax makes the Fullfield II for Burris, they can be had on Ebay from Fox Optics for about $225 or so. They are a great scope for that money. Way better scope than the Nikon, and I've had both so I could do the comparison.
