Hey everyone this is my first post.I was wanting to know which budget .270 is the best for the guns around the $300-$350 range for use on coyotes and deer.

I would narrow it down between the savage axis and ruger american. I would find a place that has both and shoulder them and buy the one that fits and feels best.

Any of them will hit deer or coyotes at reasonable ranges. I'll 2nd the .243Win also.

I have a Savage 11 that loves 150 grain Winchester Super X ammo. Entry level gun that shoots tight groups at 200 yds with cheap ammo is a winner for me.

Find a used Rem. 700,Win. model 70, or Ruger M77. Most of these will not have been shot out and can be found at reasonable prices used.

Not to knock Savage only owned one, 40 years ago sloppiest action I ever seen and would not group well. I understand they have made great improvements since then and if I found one at the right price in the right chamber I would buy it.

Most off the "entry level" rifles are good if you keep realistic expectations. I'd find what you think seems most rugged/durable. The savage edge/axis is great and could have an upgraded trigger later if you had a few extra pennies. If you found a slick deal on a TC venture I have had a few buddies that are very happy with theirs. One more nod to the used 700s and 70s. I personally have no use for a ruger bolt rifle - not nearly what their semi autos and pistols are.
Good luck.

The ruger has a 3lb. min. factory adj. trigger. The ruger has the "edge" over the axis on this point, if....It will out shoot it stock for stock and there are no plans for future upgrades.
