Building on a Howa Mini Action

Has anyone rebarreled a Howa Mini action to one of the Fireball length cartridges? I have one in 223 with a detachable magazine that I am thinking of turning into a 17 Mach IV. I did mess with it a little and the little shells seem to cycle from the magazine ok. Just wondering if anyone has gone this route and what their experiences might have been?

How are folks in the big city of Monument, hope all is well there.
Stopped by a gunshop north of town a few years back. Kurt I believe was his name, nice fellow.

I had a Howa Mini in 223 that didn’t make me happy. I ended up going opposite of what your doing, went with a 22Nosler and used the 6.5 Grendel magazine. I would say if it feeds from the 223/204 magazine you are in business.
I went with a prefit from Preferred Barrels and their nut. I am happy with it.
FYI, the 223 barrel had to put a relief cut close to the action to get it loose. First time we ever had that issue, even on some milsurp actions.

Kurt still has his shop north of town. I am actually south of town. Need to stop by and see what he has going on sometime soon. Been years since I have been up there.

I have a Mach IV set up as a single shot on a savage action, and love it for prairie dogs, but would really like a repeater in more of a "truck gun" type of setup, thus the Howa. Right now looking to find a maker for the barrel.
