Bullet and Primer Sealer: Any effect on gun barrell or bullet?

Just got done loading up some .58 grain vmax and 95 grain combined technologies ballistic silvertips for the .243 and for the first time I tried putting some Markron Custom Bullet and Primer Sealer on the bullet brass connection and the primer cartridge connection. When I got done I started to think /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif and wondered if these will shoot the same as other ones I have loaded without this product? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Also wondered if this would be bad for the barrell as the bullet with the sealer travels down the barrell and out the muzzle. Don't think the stuff on the primer would do anything to the gun but not sure of the stuff added to the bullet base. Anybody? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

We use both a product made by Loc-Tite and a nitrocellulose-lacquer material made in house. We have never noticed any increase in fouling or change in accuracy in testing. Pressure and velocity do not statistically change either. Perhaps at the benchrest level one could tell the difference.

It will not hurt anything, it is not really needed unless you intend to store the loaded ammo for a number of decades in questionable surroundings it is a water proofing and nothing more. It is laquer based and will burn off the bullet base at ignition. You can use clear nail polish since it is almost the same stuff

I've seen reports of Wolf ammo with lacquer causing a build-up in the chamber that needed to be scrubbed out. I believe it was on their steel-cased ammo. Didn't hurt the barrel, but was a concern for continued functioning.
You don't need that around the bullet, it's not going to leak even if you submerge the ammo for weeks.
Around the primer, maybe. I've seated some primers that felt pretty loose, and there's not much bearing surface.
I've shot a lot of military brass ammo with sealant and never saw any residue. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
Clear nail polish works well, but I don't use anything. Maybe if I was going to bury the ammo I'd take that precaution. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wolf with the lacquer coating is on the complete cartridge to prevent the Steel case from rusting. I use nail polish myself but only on the primer and only on cases that I do not intend to shoot for practice. The best argument for sealing primers is the guys that heavily oil their guns, hunt in very humid conditions, or in Law enforcement where the weapon is constantly exposed to the elements. There will be no change except it will go bang or snap.

I worked for an ammunition manufacturer when I was younger. We washed all pistol ammo in White gas from Amaco gas stations or Coleman lantern fuel.

We never had misfires from washing the ammo unless the primer pocket was enlarged from which the gas would deactivate the primer and powder not causing a squib load with a bullet stuck in the barrel.

The only reason that I could think of that a guy would need to seal his ammo was if he was going to try and go suba diving with an AR-15 to shoot sharks or seals.
