Bullet puller

I have some test rounds loaded up that I am not going to end up using. I would like to salvage the components to make good rounds if possible. I have a Frankfort Arsenal bullet puller and have followed all the instructions and cannot seem to get a single bullet apart. Any ideas?

It takes a out 4-8 good wacks really hard. I use a piece of 4x4 that has a knot in it. Beat it on the knot, works great iv pulled a few hundred .

IMO those hammer type pullers are a waste of time and money.. I broke two and then bought a Hornaday collet style.

1+

I just pulled 50 rounds a couple of days ago using my Hornady and it took me less than 15 minutes to do them all.

Those inertia pullers are dangerous.
You best use eye protection because they will shatter and send bits in all directions.

Spring for a collet puller and never look back.

Like Zilla and Jack Roberts said, buy the Hornady Collet Bullet puller. Solves the problem and is much safer to use. I rarely use my puller, but when I need to get a finished cartridge apart, its really the only way to go.

The hammer type puller works best if you use sharp raps on a real solid block of something. I have a chunk of hard lead that is heavy and solid.Three sharp raps good and solid works fine.I don't think you need to hit hard enough to break the hammer,it just needs to be good and solid. The sharp stop at the end of the stroke is what pulls the bullet.

anybody tried the forster collet puller or is the hornady the way to go, ive been using the hammer style for many many years,but dont like them, have busted a few,messed up the end of bullets,wasted powder, and now got a few to pull so need to order one and 7 collets(;

I bought a hammer type and used it once, way to much work and noisy. I got an RCBS and like it, it works fast and fine, however after eyeballing the Hornady I wish I would've got it instead- I like the big handle on top.Bob.

Still scrubbing the "hard headed" tatoo off my back for not buying the Hornady the day it came out. Oh the misery of those inertia pullers.

I borrowed a hammer-type puller from a buddy and used it for about 5 minutes.
It had me so pi$$ed that I tried to get him to sell it to me so I could lay it down on the concrete floor in my shop and pound it into dust with a %&^#@)&* sledge hammer!

I bought an RCBS collet puller and it works fine. I screwed up one of the collets pulling a bunch of moly-coated bullets, and they sent me a new one for free.
