Does the burris black diamond scope made back in 2004 have side focus. The scope i am looking at is the 6-24x50 target plex. Is this scope as good as the leupold vx-iii side focus scope

thanks

I don't know which year the side focus came out, but as far as quality I prefer the Burris. My next door neighbor has an older model BD 8x32 and I have a VX III LR side focus 6x24x40 w/ varmint reticle. At dusk his is much brighter, in fact my signature 6x24 is brighter than the VX III. This will be the last Leupold I own, Burris/Pentax just have better glass IMHO.

I would not recommend the BD 6-24x50. The one I have is on a .22 now. When you run it through a square test, 10 inches of movement produces 12 to 13 inches or more. Neither the horz or vert adjustments/clicks are correct. Have used/worked with all these scopes through the years at my job. Have found the Leupold's 6.5-20's or 8.5-25x50 Long range scopes to be the best in their price range. Theae are the ones we use.

I agree with Steve. I had a 8-32 that did the same as Steves 6-24 and the eye relief wasn't nearly as generous as a Leupold. RR

I'm not crazy afterall. I have two Burris Signature scopes with Posi-lock. Have quit using the posi-lock because whenever I got the bullets hitting the right spot and locked it down, the next shot was always off. Grrrr. Got to where I just left the posi-locks unscrewed. The clicks are not precise on my scopes either. American made or not, I doubt Burris will be on my list of scopes to buy again.

I have the 8x32 and am not happy with it either. When you crank it up, not a clear picture. Does not have the posi lock so I can not comment on that.

I picked it up second hand for a decent price. Glad I did not pay new price cause then I would feel realy riped.
