Burris Black Diamond Vs Leupold VariXlll...

OK, scoping a new rifle. This rifle will be used in the near future for PD's. It'll be used for coyotes ofcourse, but wanted a scope with some power for those little guys too. I fiqured I'd go for a 4.5-14x50 Leupold or a 4-16x50 Burris Black Diamond. The Burris has a 30mm tube versus the Leupolds 1". I do hunt at low light conditions so light gathering is kind of important.

Never dealt with Burris before. Looking for comments on Burris quality compared to Leupolds. I had the opportunity to check out Burris at one time but failed to do so. Appreciate your observations if you've used one. Thanks.

Bob

I can't speak for the Black Diamond in particular but I prefer my Leupold scopes over my Burris scopes that are in the same general price range. I am not complaining at all about my Burris scopes because they are good scopes and have served me well.

Hello
You will like dealing with Burris. They are a terrific company. And they are a more "value added" scope than the Leopold. Really the opposite of the VariXIII in the Burris line is the Signature. The BDiamond is kinda above that, so the comparison is really kinda awkward. I dont know off hand what Leo makes in a 30mm tube.

Bob, my son,
Don't listen to the dark side...Let your feelings go....listen to Obewan, Yoda, and Mudhen...

Yoda says "How can I ever teach you anything when you don't listen? hummm? "

Buy A leupold Dang it! But Burris does make a good tube for sure...

Bobby boy,
Pay attention to your elders now. Leupold has a good resale factor and their service is excellent.
(Burris makes a good scope though)

Oh Masters Of The Ocular Sect Of Zipperheads,

I have seen the sun set on my rather lumpy posterior, I have come to the conclusion that even those of you who we seek guidance from have your cranial interface shoved firmly up your wang chung.

Ok Ok....so both of you yahoos say that in fact, Burris makes a fine tube...but, those of the Leupold Dynasty are better. I have to buy two tubes anyway, one for this new riffle, another for a 22-250 I hope to take possession of soon.

I will follow my masters wishes and throw down the duckets for a Leupold.

Thank you...all of you.

The "Master" speaks:
"Buy the new Leupold LPS, variable with the 45mm objective"
"Don't think, spend, man, can't I teach you guys anything.
PS. If you need a really smoking deal on scopes, email me and I'll set you up.

Bob, SWFA link lists the VariXIII 3.5X10 40 matte finish at $419.99, I just bought that scope from Natchez for $397. My wife is right, it pays to shop.

Acouple of years back I would have siad buy a Leupold no matter what the cost. I still buy nothing but Leupolds for my rifles, but I do have acouple of Burris scopes on handguns. Burris make a much better slection of handgun scopes than Leupold, and I have foun them to be excelant scopes. There is no doubt that a Burris rifle scope should be a good scope, but I still keep buying Leupold rifle scopes, and probly always will.
