I JUST FOUND OUT I CAN GET BURRIS SCOPES AT ABOUT 55% RETAIL. I AM LOOKING TO BUY A NEW 223 AND IT WILL NEED A SCOPE. RIGHT NOW I AM IN THE MIDWEST BUT NEVADA IS HOME. WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE A GOOD SCOPE FOR BOTH OPEN AND THICK WOODS HUNTING FROM BURRIS. THANKS IN ADVANCE

which scope is it? FF2 or signature? i would pick it up if its near half price. i love burris scopes. cant go wrong on a .223 with the burris as far as im concerned

I would think 4 power up to the highest variable they market. I have some old burris optics 6x18's and some newer ones also black diamond 8x32 mil-dot reticle and and signature 8x32 peep plex reticle(that they don't make anymore) the one I like the best. and binoculars. All Burris optics are top shelf top of the line in my opinion. I have had other brands and had to send them back to have whatever corrected. I have never had a problem with the Burris equipment. Just my 2 cents worth. With more then 4 power if something is close and running or jumping it can be very hard to keep them in the scope field of view untill they get farther away. I dont think you will be disappointed with Burris.

I CAN GET ANY BURRIS OPTICS FOR 55% RETAIL.

If you can do that, you should jump on it. I bought my first Burris a few weeks ago (FFII 3-9x40) and I really like it.

Do you think you take the caps lock off? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I own the FF 4.5X14 and love the scope. It is clear and gathers light wonderfully. I have it mounted on my 25-06 Encore and with adjustments and nothing but sandbags have three touching at 100 yds. You can't go wrong.

I have the FFII in 3.5 x 10 x 50 and I have a Sig. Select in 4 x 16 x 44.. I love them.

You can go as high as you want as long as you have the low end for the thick stuff. Heck even out here in the desert, mine seldom ever leaves between 4 and 6 power..

Heck why your at it order me a new one too.

Thanks for all the advice. Sorry about the caps lock. I am in the military. We write everything in capital letters. My father is a biologist and his agency gets the discount. I think i will probably go with a fullfield with the bal. ret.
Thanks Again, Sevonhunter

I also got the ballistic recticle. RagnCajn and myself were testing some load in my AR with it Friday. I had it shooting under a inch groups with 3 different factory loads. The federal 55 sierra game kings were dead on at 100. At 200 they were 2-3 iches low (a little under 2 inch group at 200 with me shooting) when aiming dead on. I raised up to the second horizontal crosshair and was dead center of the bullseye on the first shot. Didn't try and more because I didn't want to ruin it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have the 3-9x40 ffII and love it... i wish i had some of the features my other scopes have but burris has a very good product... the bal-plex reticle is closer to dead on than i can be.... which in turn makes me feel like a better shot because i know my equipment will perform all i need to do is do my part... when you second guess your equipment i feel that takes your attention off the objective at hand... thats just me but I will own a lot more of their scopes for more of my guns...

That sounds like a really nice scope. I wasn't sure how exact they would be so that is valuable information. Thank you for the comments. -Sevonhunter

Just an FYI - Burris FFII 3 x 9 40 mm w/ballistic plex can be had for about $190 on a regular basis. I don't know what 55% off retail is .....its not a real price. I would use that for reference. Check Midway, Graf and sons, Midsouth, OpticZone and compare.

Well I have to buy directly through burris. If you go to burris and look at there retail price list. I will get it for 55% of thier price. Ex. Burris Fullfield II Scope 200172 3.5X-10X-50mm Ballistic PlexTM mat $581 x .55 = $319.55

It pretty much looks like I can get it for the same price every where else. Just like everything else in life. It sounded a lot better then it really was. Ha Ha jokes on me. Either way thanks for the info and I think I will still go with a Burris. - Sevonhunter
