Burris Zee or Signature Zee?

I am purchasing rings to mount a Mueller APV on a savage 93R17 in 17 HMR and was wondering if I should pay the extra 20$ for the Burris Signature Zee rings instead of the cheaper Zee rings(I am under the influence that the only difference is the inserts). If it matters I will by using the gun for hunting out to 200 yds max.

Thanks for any help

I really like the Signature series for two reasons: it makes mounting the scope without tweaking it almost idiot proof; and it ensures you won't damage the scope tube or mar the finish on your scope. I use them whenever they're available for my application.

I use them whenever possible also and the last two factory rifles I mounted scopes on had to use the offset inserts to zero my windage

+1 The edges are very sharp and will scratch your scope. I stone all the sharp edges and use the Burris tape is the bottom ring.

I used fine sandpaper on the inserts to remove the sharp edge prior to installing on a CX-452. Had no issues and everything snugged up great.

You're worried about an extra $20...? Signature rings eliminate all alignment problems, which a lot of rifles have. And just considering they won't put ring marks on the scope, how much do you think those marks detract from the looks and value? Don't even bother using anything but Signature rings.
