Bushmaster Predator accuracy ?

Anyone had much time to check out how well these do/don't shoot. Was going to get a new upper and really like the likes of it, and I have a Bushmaster lower.

I've shot a few different loads in mine. Seems to like the 53 gr Hornady Match with 27.5 grs. of W-748 and a Fed 205. I need to get back out and try some more 60 Vmaxes. They shot good too the day I tested them.

I have tryed various loads none are bad the worst so far have been the Winchester 63 gr.SP they were my pig bullets this past few months and the best group was .431 @100 yds the worst was 1 3/8 inches at 200yds.I was loading 26 gr. Varget. The 50gr. Sierra,52gr.Berger and the 55gr. Sierra all will shoot 3 shots less than 1/2 inch or better than I am capable.I have killed 13 Hogs with the Winchesters so they are accurate enough.

I have the Bushmaster Varminter with 24 inch barrel and 1&9 twist . My Bushy favorite load is Win 748 with the Nosler 55 gr BT grouping 1/2 inch or better . The Predator has the 1&8 twist but should shoot this load almost as well.

I've got two of the "Predator" rifles and can't pick one over the other. Both shoot the Blue box, Black-Hills 60 V-max's very well. Most groups are under 3/4" with a few 1/2" or less. Keep in mind these are 5 and some 10 shot groups. I can't help but think with tailored loads they could do even better.

I shot my new Bushmaster Predator (20 in 1x8) yesterday for the first time. Here’s the picture of first 5 rounds at 100 yards using Black Hills remanufactured 55grn sp ( I got tired waiting for my order of Black Hills 60grn Vmax to arrive).

I started out at 50 yards with 5 rounds to get on paper .. No problem... Moved a fresh target to 100 yards. Loaded a 5-round mag, first shot high, but on paper. 4 clicks down and one click to the left on the Burris 4.5X14 scope.. Next 4 rounds produced an approx ¼ inch group! (Dime for reference the Squares are ¼ inch)

No doubt in my mind if the shooter does his part, phenomenal accuracy will be had.

I would also add that my 10 and 16 year old both shot respectable groups at 100 yards without me even really explaining the two stage trigger and how to take advantage of it .. They shot it as a “regular trigger“. In fact, when I set my 10 year old on the bench, I figured that ! was just going to give him the “thrill” of pulling the trigger on dad’s new AR-15 and he wouldn’t hit within 20 yards of the target. I was very mistaken! All on paper!

I guess the dimes and .223 bullet holes in my part of the country are bigger than in AZ.:D Here those would be 1/2 inch squares. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Heck of a group! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

AP,

Looks like them boys will want their own AR's pretty soon. The way your oldest is holding your rifle it looks as if he might not give it back.

That is a nice group for sure. It has been my experience with every AR I have had is they will not start giving up their best groups until about 200 rounds. Another nice thing about 223's is their is not much need to count your rounds and worry about barrel life. I sold an AR last year that had 8-10,000 rounds through it (original barrel) and would still shoot under an inch. AR's are like Timex watches and Duracell batteries they keep going and going and.......

Dude! Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking, and it's Energizer that keeps going, and going, and going. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
