Bushnell 6500 Review---update

First off I'm no optics's expert. So I'm comparing it to my NEW Nikon Monarch 3 X 12 X 42 side focus. Power ring Nikon tight...Bushnell smooth...side focus Nikon pull out and turn locking...Bushnell smooth not locking. Compare side focus Nikon works good...Bushnell diffidently better seems to have a lot more adjustment. Clarity because of the side focus I give it to Bushnell. Bushnell comes with a 3 inch sun shade...Nikon is not threaded for a sun shade. Later on when I have more time I will compare it to my Lupy 6.5 X 20LR X 40. Again I'm no expert and don't work for Bushnell and I sold my Nikon to my buddy. What are buddy's for.

Which elite did you get 222, the lower powered one or the higher powered one? I'll be looking forward to the comparison to the Leupold.

Now look here 22250 you've had that scope for several hours, right! But you just gave us a very brief once over, right! Don't you feel that you have a moral obligation to expand on what you started? Do I buy one of those and post pone my varmint/predator vacation in Nevada or not ? LOL Seriously what other scopes do you have to compare that too? Looking forward to more info. It looks really cool! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I own two elite 4200s I think there better then Leupold.I had a 8.5x25x50MM Leupold. It was good but I don't think better then my 4200s. Yes Optic Zone had the best prices.

what is the price tag on one of the 6500. they look like a nice scope but i have always been a Leupold man and its hard for me to buy anyting else because of the sucess i have had with them. let us know how it works out for you.

Cabela's has them in their new shooting catalog, the whole back page is one display for them, for 699.99 for the duplex reticle model.

Thanks Rem222. Being retired and on the low end of the earning spectrum I've never been much for the high dollar scopes, but with the extra wide field of view that new 6500 sure looks good and several folks with the 4200's sure like the optics. I'm going up to Spokane on the 12th and will drop over to the Cabela's at Post Falls on the way home and see if they have one I can look thru.

I agree. I have more Leupolds than any other scope. But either of my two 4200 Bushys (4-16, 6-24) are superior to any of my Leupolds in clarity and brightness. My Zeiss is on my best shooting rifle, my Bushnells on my next two favorites. I think that says quite a bit right there.

I got mine yesterday, $579 delivered from the optics zone. I'm mounting it on a Tikka 243 today. It looks like a great scope, optics are first rate. Field of view at 2.5 is over 41 feet but you still have the option of a huge 16 * magnification. I got it because it seemed so versatile and perfect for a 243. It is going hog hunting this weekend, we'll see how it does in the field.

Comparing Lupy 6.5 X 20LR X 40 To Bushnell 6500 2.5 X 16 X 42
Both have 30MM tubes Both are awesome...Right and left adjustments Lupy solid clicks then adjust brass ring to set zero...Bushnell Solid click then lift knob turn to reset zero push back down to lock. Side focus both very smooth...I only went to 16 power on the Lupy because Bushnell goes to 16 power. On the low end 6.5 power for Lupy and roughly 6 for Bushnell I give a slight advantage to Bushnell because at forty yards I could focus a touch better. Does that mean anything I don't know. I tried to keep the power rating the same to make it fair. If you were to put both side by side and not know which one you were looking through...you could not tell the difference. Again I'm know optics expert. I also have two other 3.5 X 10 X 40 Lupys so I guess I'm a Lupy person. The main reason I bought the Bushnell 6500 is the 2.5 lower end and field of view plus you get 16 power at the top end. Would I buy this scope again in a split second.

I hope this helps someone.
