Hey Guys,
I know they are big scopes, but I'm looking at the power range, clarity and "night use" benefits of the above two scopes for my next dedicated predator calling rifle. I normally prefer smaller objectives and lower powers, but the coating on these optics are supposed to be phenomenal and I don't think they are going to look too out of place on the .223 they are going to be mounted on. I'll rarely bump either to 5x or more, but it would be nice to have that extra power for dogs that hold up a ways out there. Last 6 out of 10 dogs we called in came in under 45yds, so a long shot is a rarity where we have been hunting, but it can happen (the other 4 held up at around 130-150yds... again, don't need 16x for that, but nice to have at when they sit down at 250-350)
Here's my problem, I have no way of comparing them side by side, so if anyone is familiar with both of these models, I'd like to hear if the clarity between the Zeiss and the Elites are so close that I can save the extra $450 and just go with the Bushnell's (I'm leaning that way anyway).
I didn't want a battery powered scope originally, but thought the illuminated dot might be handy to have when calling at night in the snow without lights. It's purely a luxury that I will likely never use in daytime stands.
Just wanting to buy once cry once and just looking for opinions on these two particular 30mm optics (I've already ruled out a BUNCH of others for various reasons). I'm not getting any younger and currently my eyes are still pretty good, but I'd like this to be my last dedicated rifle build for dogs and cats, so I'll appreciate the extra clarity I get from these when I get even more sodded.
THANK YOU and I appreciate any and all input.
Good Callin',
Mike
