Bushnell Elite Firefly

Has anyone tried the new Bushnell Elites with the firefly reticles? How long do they glow after being activated? Are the reticles the same as the original 3200 Elite in daylight? Thanks

The reticals of the fire fly are thick. for instance I have a 1.5 X 4.5 and at 4.5 power they cover up one sq. inch. my pardner has a 3x9 and at 9 power they cover 1/2 inch. the glow in the dark is fantastic. they will glow for longer than any set up. i would have to say you can hunt all night on two charges. they stand behind them with the "don't like it for any reason" return within one year and get full refund, can't bet that with a stick. i'd say give one a try have heard nothing bad about them

How do you like the 1.5x4.5? I've got a 3x9x40 Firefly on my 270. The 1.5x4.5 would be great on my Ruger 44 semi auto carbine. Can't wait to try the Firefly out. Deer season opens next weekend.

Love the 1.5 x 4.5 in my eyes most people over power their scopes. if its bigger in the scope its easier to hit right, lol. no matter what power scope, the critter is the same size and you have to hit it to kill it. for night hunting the 1.5 setting lets in more light the field of view is bigger, and finding a running critter is easier at a lower setting. at the registration station for deer hunting i hear all the time how the kid saw the big one but couldn't find it in the scope. dad set it on 6 power so the kid could see it better. when the grandkids start hunting there will be no scope on their guns for the first couple of kills, it keeps them from taking to long of shots and they will never have the big one get away because they couldn't find it in the scope.

if the budget will allow it they also make an elite 4200 with 2.5x10 this would also be a nice scope and i would have gotten one of those but the price is up there. they also come with the firefly

Thanks Cracker. I'm fortunate enough to have two 4200's. Neither has the firefly reticle but they are AWESOME scopes. You're right, the 4200 series 2.5x10 firefly would be a great glass (especially on my Bushy flattop!). For the Ruger 44 though, the 1.5x4.5 would be hard to beat. We gotta quit talking about Elites. My wallet can't take much more for a while!

This is the scope I got for my 22-250 T/C Encore Hbar. I love this scope. I feel there is no better scope for night hunting. It has extremely clear glass on the 4200 models anyway. Plus with the Firefly you can pick up the reticle in the darkest of conditions. It really shines on a no moon hunt. In fact the first Coyote I took was with this set up at about 3:30 in the morning with no light. That reticle really helps at night. You can pick it up in a second on a black background. No screwing around trying to find the reticle before you shoot. It just jumps out at you at night. And with the way the reticle is thick at the posts it makes bracketing a running Yote at night a little easier. I highly recommend it for night hunting. It helped me get one yote so far that I probably would not have had with a conventional scope.
