I was wondering if anyone has tries thr Bushnell Firefly 3200 scope for coyote hunting? I just bought one and was wondering if they are any good or just something new that will go by the wayside in a year? Thanks for any info. that you may have.
I put a Firefly on my 7mm. last year, and I am very pleased with it. I hunt some stands in thick brush, travel corridors, and the lighted reticle is just the ticket for that wary buck slipping back to his core area early.
I've got one on my .17 for predators. I like it so far but only recently put it on. I'm thinking it's the ticket. I may put on on my 7mm ultra mag too for bears. At least light it's hard to see the crosshairs on those black buggers. I think the firefly would be great for that.
I bought a couple of the 1-6x's for big game rifles, just because it seems like I shoot at last light alot. I really don't care to much for them. The scope part is fine, but the firefly part I thought was useless. First you have to activate it by shining a flashlight in the end. Just the thing to do when you don't want to spook game. Then the reticule glows for about a 20 minute lifespan. End result was that by the time I needed it it the candle had fizzled out.
Wow, only 20 min.? What kind of flashlight are you using? Try something like a Streamlight Scorpian or Surefire light for 1 to 2 min., it makes a huge difference. Mine is to bright for the first 20 min. then it is about right for the next couple of hours. It is still usable after 5 or 6 hours. Maybe you got some bad ones or I got a good one. But I think it is the light you are using.
