Bushnell Holosight

I am planning on buying an AR, and i was looking at some different sights. i dont want to put a scope on it i would rather use a red dot or holographic and i like the reticle and everything on the bushnell holographic and it would be good for quick aiming. what is everyones thoughts about this and would you reccommend this sight?

I've got several of them and really like them. I also have an Eotech Holosight as well, I use that on my AR and prefer it. It has an extra hood to protect the sight and the battery life is much longer. If you do buy the Bushnell you want to look for the newer style that has the rubber buttons on the back of the sight instead of on the side, they are easier to use. I also recommend AA batteries in the Eotech you can buy new ones at any mom+pop store for a reasonable price, the same can't be said for the N size batteries.

Unless you want to use a magnifier or BUIS on the rail behind it. In that case, the side-mounts are a huge advantage.
I can adjust my EOTech with the BUIS behind, but it's awkward.

I like the AAs too, since I always have some along for the camera, GPS, flashlight etc. , but it makes for a longer package that extends over the float tube a bit.

I've got one of the older Bushnells and love it. I use it on my slug gun for deer, turkey/coyote scatter gun, Mark III Ruger... I'm thinking of putting it on my AR soon for some coyote action. Haven't quite decided between it and a regular scope. The sight can be used soo many ways and it's a blast to use. I don't see how anybody can have one collecting dust. You won't regret getting one.

peace.

I love my bushnell holo sight and it sat first on my mini 14. however I used it for night hunting and we can not use lights here. the down fall was at night you can not get the brightness to go down low enough, its to bright. then I moved it to my shotgun for turkey hunting and it was a dream. It now sits on my 44 revolver and it allows me to shot paper plates at 100yrds, I love the set up. as you can see it has sat on some big thumpers and has never lost a zero and I dont shoot whimpy loads out of the 44. I may need to get another one for the shotgun.

My EOTech will adjust so low it disappears in a dark (black)room. I haven't tried using it for night hunting (yet) but I think it should be great.
Mine's not the NV model, either.

Just FYI.

Same here, the Eotech's are great. I've also got the new style Bushnells and they also adjust that low, it's an excellent sight.

I've got the Bushnell, and it is great. Mine gets as dim as you want it for night hunting. I picked mine up used for 120 bucks! The guy never mounted it to a gun, and just wanted to get rid of it. The AR it is on is not only one of my yote/hog guns, but is also my home defense rifle. It is nice to be able to keep both eyes open while aiming.

Just a cmt on AA Batteries.
I began using Lithium AA batteries about 2 years ago. They cost a lot more than Alkaline's up front, but in the final analysis, they may be more cost effective as they last forever, + one day..

The big advantage I see in using them is they are always ready to use when I want them to be. They have a shelf life of 10 years. Seems like every device I use requires AA batteries; two cameras, a rangefinder, two GPS's, two EOTech's, and about a jillion flashlights...

So, it's Lithiums for me...
