Butt pads?

Do you all use them, and if so, what is your preferance? I have become a huge fan of having a pad to sit on from stand to stand, and am in need of an update. Mine has to be able to work in the snow (duct tape bottoms make a good sled) and dry, keep my but warm and comfy, but not be loud. what do you use? Dan

I use a piece of 1.5" closed cell. Quiet, lightweight and effective. You can buy them at nearly any hunting shop. Do not buy the inflatable units. Too easy to puncture.

Gotto use one here in Oregon or your gonna have a wet butt all day. Rains a lot here, plus if there is snow on the ground you won't sit very long without one.

Gotta have em I use an insulating blanket off of a natural gas well head they come in all shapes and sizes. Warm and dry.............

All of the above are good suggestions, but I have found that sitting on the ground for too long makes my legs fall asleep, and isn't comfortable enough to keep me from shuffling around so I purchased a little turkey hunting seat that has folding legs and a seatback. It is only about four or five inches off the ground, but is MUCH more comfy than being right on the dirt. After I bought it I also found that I am able to aim much more steadily while sitting slightly off the ground. The seatback also seems to help steady the crosshairs.

Good Hunting.

Snow callin, I slip mine inside of a White pillow case, et White Duct Tape the belt. When the ground is dry, I don't use one period. It's just, one more thing that makes noise, as you stalk-in to set-up.

Here is the seat that I use, it puts you up enough to see over tall grass and other objects, plus it has some bags on the sides so that you can carry all of that dang equipment that we all seem to accumulate.

I work at a dealership, and scored a bottom seat cushion replaced under warranty. I'm thinking of cutting it down a bit, putting a camo cover and some carry staps on it and see how it does. It should be comfy, and the closed foam should keep the water out well enough.

I have a bad back so I need something that gives me some back support and I found what I was looking for with one of the stadium seats. Mine has an extra high back, for added back support, and a closed cell foam seat that stays dry and is very warm, even on snow. I couldn't find a camo one so I just used paint to do my own camo job. Yes, it's ugly, but it works! It has a carry strap to sling over my shoulder and only weighs a few ounces. Without it I'd be a cripple by the end of the day.

I carry 2 three legged stools in my truck just in case. Also for the snow I have white marine floatation coushins about 2" thick. Anything helps greatly and i do prefer not to have a wet rear when its not real cold.

The best $10 you'll invest! Man, I don't know how I ever sat for more than 30 minutes before my foam pad. It is really a must if you are on rocky ground or wet and or cold ground.

Mine has a velcro loop so I can fasten it through my back belt loop. When walking you almost forget it's there.
