ok, so i was reading up on the gun laws and it seems to me that i could own a Benelli m4 shotgun in California
but for some reason i had thought pistol grips weren't allowed

the way i read it was if it has just a pistol grip and not a detachable magazine im ok

someone correct me if im wrong
thank you

Just about anything fun in Nazi Kalifornia, uh sorry california is not ok. Funny, all the so called officials (or their security force) can have cool guns to protect them from the evil public. But, the public will NEED guns to protect themselves from the officials.

YOU will go insane attempting to read and understand the laws in this state. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

But if you can buy it over the counter in Commifornia your ok. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well we cant shoot wooden bullets, LOL The shot guns have have restrictions on them if the barrel is under 18 inches you cant have it also over all gun length has to be over I believe its like 32 inches. If it has handles on it you will probably get looked at pretty hard. Gun laws are as clear as mud in California, I think you need to be a lawyer to read all the banned weapons. The new ban that they are trying to get started includes the popular 870 12 guage shotgun.

This is why it is so hard being a California resident on a non-California gun board. All these posts and not a decent piece of information to answer the guy's question.

Here is some easy to read and easy to understand information that is the actual law to answer your question.

PC 12276.1(a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
(6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
(A) A folding or telescoping stock.
(B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.
(8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

So a M4 could be legal as long as it does not have both a telescoping stock and a pistol grip. Just make sure you get a fixed pistol grip stock or a regular stock on it.
