cabelas bulk ammo prices are actually good

I just priced out the following orders at cabelas, midway, and able ammo. If they didnt have the following i subb'd in the closest thing cost wise.


400 rounds winchester 22-250 45 grain JHP
250 rounds Estates #4 Buck 12 gauge
250 rounds winchester super x 7-1/2 shot 12 gauge
2100 rounds winchestter 36 grain hollow point .22lr

Prices with taxes and/or shipping
Cabelas - $610.85 (and includes 4 dry storage boxes)
Able Ammo - $645.32
Midway USA - $685.13

I was just doing some wishing for my tax return. This country is going to [beeep]. Borrowing the equivalent of 250billion euros from china to bail out Europe. Investing in ammo seems like the smart thing to do.
 
fyi - don't get your hopes up over those Cabelas 'dry storage boxes.' Those things are flimsy pieces of crap that don't seal worth a [beeep].

Surprised to see Cabelas is the cheapest. Rarely do they sell for anything less than MSRP. You can usually find a good coupon code for midway.
 
Im not too worried about that. I prolly won't even use them for ammo I was just stating that they are something extra that you get and cabela's is still cheaper.

Ill have to look for midway's coupons but still they are $75 higher

Not discounting your experiences just playing the devils advocate here. I have 5 of the Cabela's dry boxes and have left them in the bed of truck during a rain, all contents have always been dry even after being in the rain for over 24 hours. Done this a couple of times due to bad short term memory

You did put the adhesive gasket on the lip right? Either I got some really good ones or you got some really bad ones.....who knows?

I keep one of the Cabela's Plastic Ammo Boxes strapped on the front rack of my Rubicon to house delicate possibles. It has always kept everything dry and safe under some pretty extreme conditions.

I gotta say with my Cabela's Credit Card points, the regular discount coupons they send me and the special invite pre Christmas employee discount party I get some great deals at Cabela's these days.

I hate to hijack anymore of this thread, but this was easily the funniest thing I've seen in weeks! I nearly choked to death on my apple when I read it. Very good stuff!
