cabelas yote vest

That is a good deal and I couldn't resist. I ordered it Sunday and it showed up today along with my new Wildfire. All I can say is wow, that vest is really something! I can't imagine what they might have missed, there is a pocket or pouch for virtually everything. A pouch that holds rifle shells and or shotgun shells in elastic loops. A pouch for hand calls in elastic loops. A little pocket for a spare diaphragm call. Many other pouches, pockets etc. The seat pad is comfy and folds up behind when you're walking, and folding the "kickstand" down over it seems to hold it in place pretty well. The kickstand has 2 legs that are adjustable by simply reaching back and twisting each leg and lengthening it to whatever length you need for the terrain. It has a fairly significantly built metal frame in back including the legs. The only plastic parts are the pivots for the legs and the rubber feet.

Oh and there's even a nylon strap that clips to the back to drag your kill out.

One thing I worried about was carrying a rifle slung over the shoulder, thought it might clank on those metal legs but it doesn't seem to be an issue just walking around the house. Boy did my wife and kids give me some weird looks while I was walking around in full camo with this vest on and a rifle on my shoulder!

It might or might not be perfect, but I'm not sure at this point what I'd change to make it better. Some time in the field will tell the tale but right now I really like it!

LOL, I know the feeling! I'm kind of a camo freak and sometimes I'll try on all my gear to see how it looks and functions before taking it out in the field. My family thinks I'm weird but I'm just taking it for a spin before actually using it. What's wrong with checking everything out beforehand? I like how I look in camo! HAHA

I live mine. I could sit on stand all day its so comfy. I think thr zippers are a littl hard to operate but it could be cause im a lil husky.

Like all the pockets but like NE said. If you have to hunt with many layers due to cold temperature the one size fits most should say one size fits most youth. I put on my three layers for 0-10 degree and could hardly zip the vest up. And I am 5'11" and 190. It might have to be my kids xmas gift.

Does yours zip up? Mine has 3 straps that clip together to keep it one. Maybe they changed them?

Well I got to try it out yesterday morning. I love sitting in it on stand, but got tired of walking with it on to and from the stands. Trudging through 6" of snow with the vest loaded and my rifle slung over my shoulder wasn't fun at all, lol. My shoulders are still sore today. I'm not sure why, but I pulled the metal frame out of it and I might try it like that next time. I'll probably give it a couple more tries and then it might get returned, we'll see.

My mistake. I was not thinking right. Mine has 3 straps that snap together. And with the straps stretched out all the way it gets snug when I have a hooded sweatshirt, fleece pullover, and insulated coat on.

I want one but the wife says I already have the FoxPro vest. She keeps saying I have to much stuff that I never use and it will sit in the closet. She's probably right.

Just got mine at the sale price. It is to replace my Foxpro vest which was falling apart. I will be removing the kick stand. I hang a stadium type seat on the back of the vest. It flips up and out of the way when walking. That worked well on the foxpro vest. My concern with the yote vest is the large pads and the hard panel on the back. I really like the pockets on the yote vest. Seems easier to get my fury 2 in and out of it. Maybe I will combine the two vest. Put the foxpro back on the yote vest. Seems like I have to modify everything.

I've been looking at the Speedy Yote for a year, decided to buy it when I saw the sale, and my short experience has been positive. I have 8 sets in 2 days on it, about 8 hours of hunting/walking.

I'm a pretty big guy, 6'4" 320 lbs, 42" waist 56" chest. It's been cold the two days I hunted with it (0 deg first day, 10 deg last night), so I wore 2 merino base layers, a Mountain Hardwear Tech Jacket soft shell and a Natural Gear fleece jacket. I have the straps adjusted all the way out, but have no problem snapping them or sitting comfortably with them snapped. I sling my rifle cross body (carbine carry, VCAS padded sling) and walk in slung in front of my body, out on my back. It was more comfortable walking out with my rifle on my back than it normally is. No clanking/creaking, the hard back sheet spread the rifle out and there was no pressure at all. I carried a big heavy suppressed JP 308 AR (15 lbs + loaded... ugh) the first day because there's a chance of a long shot. Walking in was the same as normal, the pockets are at the side of my body because I'm such a generously sized human and didn't interfere with my slung rifle. Those of you that carry with a standard over the shoulder hunting sling might run into problems with your rifle rubbing or clanking against the metal frame/legs.

As far as function goes, it's quite comfortable. I accidentally took a short nap on it last night during the 4th set, somewhere around 2 am. Decided at that point to call it quits for the night, then flushed a big cock pheasant on the walk out and dumped enough adrenaline that I didn't get to sleep until 3:30 anyway. Oh well, who needs sleep?

I bought it because it looked more comfortable than leaning against a fence post or tree, didn't plan on making a bunch of use of the pockets. I have 4 mouth calls, 3 aa batteries for the remote, Shockwave remote, extra 10 rd mag for the AR, 5 extra 12ga rounds and chemical handwarmers in the pockets. I use a Shockwave with Foxjack, no chance in Hades that it would fit in any of the pockets. Will carry water bottle in the summer, but it would freeze in the winter so I stick with the beverage I leave in the truck for now.

Saw the post ordered one. Sent back yesterday. My alpha dog wouldn't fit and the buckle straps on front were a little tight with insulated coveralls. I'm not that big 5'7" and 175#. Just as well my 10 year old turkey vest will keep on working.

I got a chance to use mine again today. I've decided to keep it. Long story short I think it's a great vest when used for short (relative term) hikes from the truck to a stand. In deep snow like we had last weekend it's just too much. But with no snow the walking is much much easier and I really like how it holds all the gear and it's great to sit in on the stand.

I really like mine, it holds all my gear and is ready at a moments notice when I try to get a stand in after work! Some of the best money I have spent.

I bought the foxpro when they came out and used it alot last year, but was carring to much un-used stuff because I could. this year I've gone back to the shoulder pouch for gear and carrying the caller. KISS (keep it simple stupid) works for me. I'm alot more mobile and able to change location and tactics quicker with less hassel. Anyone want to buy my FP vest?

I LOVE this vest. I'm 6'2 230 and the vest fits great with my coldest of cold layers. I too removed the kickstand as it is pretty much useless in the snow. Didn't get it on sale, but used cabelas points and a $20 discount code to get it for $0000!

Never cared for the Foxpro vest and was currently running the Primos Predator vest. This is the EXACT vest I am looking for. I was always intriqued by this vest and when they finally came with it in snow camo, I HAD to have it.

One of my best Predator hunting accessory purchases ever.

I'm sure it is when not being used in deep snow. In deep snow it serves more as a boat anchor.
