Cage trap floats?

Ho do you builds cage trap floats for rats? I am having trouble keeping mine floating. If you have pictures or a video you could post, with details on how to make the, I'd appreciate it.

I have never made one but saw some that had foam on them for buoyancy.

I saw some like that, and I saw some that looked like it was a piece of plywood, without anything else on it?

Wood will naturally float if the float doesn't weigh too much.
