Callers for wild dogs in Australia

Hi,

I'm new to this web site and the net, I do more shooting than work on computers so my computer skills are a bit lacking. This is the first time I've tried to post. I shoot wild dogs (known as dingos)in Australia. I was hoping to get some information on calls.

At present I call them using a cow horn making the sounds, changes in pitch and tone with my voice, the horn is manly used for amplification. Dingos howl and don't bark very much, if at all, normally only wild cross bread dogs bark. Dingos sound like a cross between a coyote and a wolf when they howl. They sound a lot like domestic dogs when they howl. I have sound files but dont know how to post them. (If someone could let me how I will try to make it happen.)

I would like to know if there is a caller that may be able to imitate the dogs I hunt.

I also would like to know if there is a caller that imitates cattle in particular a distressed calf. The dogs I concentrate on attack and kill stock. In particular beef cattle and calfs.

I have some phots of the dingos I shoot if anyone is interestered but once again don't know how to put them on.

Aussie Dog,

Welcome to Predator Masters. If you email me the sound files and pictures, I'll post them for you. It'd be interesting to hear some dingo howls and see some kill photos.

Are you looking for hand calls or electronic calls?

Tony

Hi Col. welcome again.
My recommendation for a calf bawl caller would be to have Tony Tebbe or one of the other custom call makers on this board make you one their works of art with a slightly thicker reed. You will find that you can also reproduce passable deep howls with one. If you are looking for something in the commercial calls, take a look at the Crit'R.Call Magnum. You can see them at critrcall@earthlink.net. I use a Haydel fit to a small horn for calf bawls.
To skip a lot of experimentation I would talk to Tony about fixing me up.

These 2 vocalizations are off the wildlife techs. website. I didn't see any Dingo sounds but who knows, they probably have them.

The plain old dying rabbit blues should work fine on dingo's or wild dogs. I would love to hear some recordings of dingo howls also. I am thinking that combination of dingo howls followed by puppy squeals would also be good.
