Howdy folks,

I have a new rifle barrel on back order at Brownells. I am starting to research some new hunting bullets i have never tried. This carbine will be used for Lion hunting only.

Please don't steer the thread toward some other bullet. I am only looking for people who have real life experience shooting these bullets.

I think the reputation speaks for it self as far as on game performance.

What i am curious about is your experiences with accuracy. After scrolling through pages of internet forums i am getting mixed reviews.

"shoots like buckshot"

"MOA all day"

Looking to hear from the most dependable folks on the web here.

Thanks

Well, that leaves me out, but I'm gonna give you my 2 cents worth anyway.

I've culled a lot of whitetail does and hogs with them and would not hesitate to do so again. I don't recall exact group sizes from three different .223's (1:8 & 1:9 twist), but as I remember, they did not shoot the tiny groups that I expected from 55 gr. NBT's,

but accuracy was perfectly acceptable for hunting and I usually frown on a rifle that does not shoot MOA off the bench.

Thanks for the response Ackleyman!

Its a 16 inch Colt HBAR with a 1/9 twist. (Colt 6721) on back order. It will be my 2nd. The 1st one shoots lights out with any powder and Sierra #1390's. I found 26.1 grains of H4895 to shoot best. 3010fps sans pressure. (Maybe this combo would be fine?)

These things have a NATO chamber. The 6721 i have measures smaller than any NATO chamber i have.

Hopefully this one that is ordered will shoot just as good as the old one?

This rifle will be for Cougar only.

Midway has Partions on sale right now for 18.70 a box.

Myself and a friend didn't have any luck with them in 2-3 rifles with a couple of different twist rates and powders. More like shotgun patterns than groups.

Arlaunch, the 60g parititon is of course a deer and hog bullet. I shot them out of a 9T 223 with approximately 25g-26 of Win 748 and a Rem 7 1/2 primer.

Also, around 25-26g of varget with a cci 450s should shoot very well...memory fuzzy on the exact charge.

Warning, they really make a mess out of a deer when shot out of a 22/250. I think that most people expect benchrest accuracy. My 14T 22/250 shot these 1.5" groups with these, Rem 700. Most would say that this stinks, but deer flopped on the spot with them. I had to throw away the front half of the deer on the last two that I shot with the 22/250 and 60g Parition, massive damage to say the least. Processor asked me what I shot the deer with, damage was so bad.

You will have to play with seating depth a tad, and I would seat them at just shy of mag length at 2.240"

I would love to hear your results.

I used this bullet on a couple deer myself and recommended the Federal factory load to a couple guys I know that have youth hunters. My handload got me about one inch five shot groups at one hundred yards. The Federal factory load shot about the same. Not stunning accuracy but good enough for deer within 150 yards. The terminal performance is very good. Of the 9 or 10 deer I personally know of shot with that bullet all died in a very timely manner. Internal damage was impressive and broadside shots often got an exit. It is a very good little bullet.

60 grainers of all sorts including partitions shoot great of my hk -630. a case full of h-4895. besides partitions, I have shot 60 grain ballistic tips, 60 grain Hornaday and 63 grain sierras.
