Iv only been coon hunting once and loved it it was with a buddys blue ticks and am hooked but I want to call them as well. With the hounds they do all the work but calling them how do I know where to set up I have no clue what den tree looks like or what to look for any hints? I only know of 1 spot I know I can get some and that's out from under the old camper on our land tons of tracks going under there and we see them under there every now and then but that's 1 spot on a 57acre plot I have access to a little over 900 scattered across the county. One piece has a creek that runs threw it I'm sure calling by the water would hold some.

thanks

Check the older large diameter trees with holes big enough for coons to get in/out.There will be tracks around the base.Once the snow comes you can backtrack to the den trees.

cool thanks that should make it easy I wont be back stateside till January anyways hopefully there will be snow I know last year the snow came late though.

Sometimes it doesn't take much of a tree or much of a hole to hold a coon or 2 so we'll pretty much call about any tree with a hole we can find. Keep track of which trees pan out and which ones don't. But the really good ones generally have a good amount of turds on limbs and around the base, sometimes trails going to and from (although never locate individual tracks). As for your other post on distance between stands we'll sometimes set up on another tree almost within sight of the last one. I've made stands with 50-100 yards of each other on many occasions.
