I havent been calling for 15 years. My brother will be joining me and he is physicaly unable to walk long distances. Is it possible to call coyotes to the truck? Our area has not been called much. Does anybody know what happend to the Ruger 204 site? Thankyou!

They make 3D camo covers for vehicles. I think as a start it would be a good thing to invest in one of those. We called in a fox only 20 yards from the vehicle and frequently call from stands not far from it. These are def areas that get traffic though, so a vehicle is less likely to scare them.

Oh yeah, take some precautions too, like when driving up to the spot, turn off the radio, if you can, turn off your headlights, don't slam doors etc.

Is there a possibility that you could find a spot, get your brother setup in a chair or stand, then back the truck down the road a couple hundred yards? That could work.

dwightf, calling and killing coyotes from a truck ( if legal ) is much easier then some think, but only if the truck is set up right.
If you can hunt predators at night a truck can be huge advantage over those sitting in the brush, it's also an advantage in the day if done right.
Don't worry about the color of the truck or if it smells like a truck.
The way my truck is set up would be perfect for someone disabled or handicaped. It has a camper shell with a 40"x40" hole in the top and a shooting rest all the way around. Hope these pics give you some ideas.

Nice setup Danny. Did you modifie that yourself or did you buy the shell that way?? Lots of room inside for sure.

I've had pretty good results calling from a truck, but usually only if it's the ranch truck, they seem to not mind a truck that is frequent in the area. But they do have a tendency to hang up a ways out sometimes if I don't have the truck hidden very well. I'll get on top of a hill and pull between a couple of cedars so only the tailgate is exposed from the direction I am hunting. I have taken some handicapped hunters out this way and it works good. But, you never know, on 2 occaisions I have had a yote run right up to the truck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

dwightf-- The 204 site should be up & running within the next couple days. Sorry about the problems there. They are being resolved this AM. HTH

Dogboy, I set it up myself just for day hunting in New Mexico. They let you shoot coyotes from your truck in this state, so I took advantage of it.
It's the same idea as a California rig without the boot and all the electronics in it for night hunting.

After reading the post I thought it would work real good for someone handicaped. Maybe change a couple things, but the idea is there.

Oh I think it is a great idea. I think that's the ticket. It has many advantages and room for additions of all kinds. Thanks again for posting those pictures. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
