calling coyotes using deer distress

Have any of you guys from the East tried using deer distress calls w/ or w/out decoys to call in coyotes? Also I have a great climbing stand, should that be used as well? Richie in NH

I've used doe bleats in the winter deer yards. It works.
Got a Phantom this spring,tried it in June with a fawn decoy. Called in several Black bears and decided to wait untill winter.
Even though there are no spotted fawns in Jan. here,I'll be giving that combo a try then.
I've called out of my treestands left from deer season,it's kinda nice to be above the puckerbrush, but I'm not sure about all the commotion from putting up a stand when you want to make a set. I'd find a good place and leave it there for awhile.

Thanks for the advice ROADKILL; I'll try that combo. I am hoping santa claus brings me a phantom predator call this year. Have you had any luck using a coyotr howler call to locate dogs in the pre dawn hours? Richie
 
Richie, I use a Haydel cottontail call, and when I'm in a deer yard, the deer have responded to it like it was a fawn in distress. There just wasn't any coyotes handy to that yard. The deer would come within 20 yards or so trying to figure it out.

I've called in coyotes b4 unintentionally while using a deer call.They've never come in at a full run,but more like they where hungry but curious as to what the sound was.I also have used a fawn bleat while callin' coyotes but only after I spotted the coyote at a distance,this worked well If you spot a road kill deer on the road and you hunt the proper distance off the road of course...Daniel
 
I've used the fawn distress as well. It works pretty much as described above. They don't come running but slipping in.Probably as much to keep the doe from kicking thier butt as anything else.This was a mouth call made by Knight and Hale. If you have it on tape you might want to play it for a minute then wait for a while before another sequence. Jimmie

I have used the fawn distress and have had good sucess with it last winter had several coyotes and 2 bobcats come to call some came quickly some took almost the whole tape to respond both cats came quick within ten minutes.
