Calling Crows

I have recently started crow hunting and find hunting them a "hoot". I have all of the eclectic Fox Pro crow calls along with Bob Aronsohn 's that they also offers. Are there any other calls you would recommend that would work with the Fox Pro. All what do you consider the best hand held crow call. Thanks for looking.

I have a couple of hand held crow calls I like to mix in with the e call. I got them from Lonehowl (varmints inc game calls). Foxpros dying crow sound is a good producer for me.

I always had a lot of luck with the old JS Crow and Owl fight too. I wish I could get that sound on my Foxpro. Apparently in my area, the crows have gotten smarter and the crow sounds on my Foxpro seldom bring them in. I've had more luck with mouth calls. My old Lohman crow call sounds great and brings them in. One of the best sounds on Foxpro that usually always brought results was Lightning Jack. Of course, I was coyote hunting at those times, but I did learn something in the process. As soon as the weather breaks, I'm going after some crows!

Johnny Stewart's "Crow Come Here" has given me excellent results. It's a cassette I use on my JS cassette caller. If I knew how to get it on my FoxPro I'd be in business.

Duckstopper, I haven't used that particular sound. Do you hunt thick wooded areas or open? It's pretty timbered here.

We usually hunt from a portable blind in tress on the edge of a field. It's a pretty active call, single "cawing" which changes to a boisterous group of crows attacking something.I usually play a single crow sound from a tape or my FoxPro and only use the Crow Come Here when I need to fire up any crows that sound off, but stay off in a distance. If you play it too much the whole flock will come in, go on attack mode, but leave after you shoot and not want to come back.

It works best when you can use it on small flocks that are passing by your location going somewhere else.

Crow are smart. We love hunting them, but one you start shooting they get wise and refuse to come in. We used to run and gun in good habitat. Drive around until we saw crows and then set up near them and call. We'd play FoxPro Crow Party and they'd come in all excited, but bug out once the shooting started...after that, off to the next spot. It is pretty fun!
