Calling Etiquite

Went hunting today and, on the third stand, I ran into one of those tough choices. My caller was behind me about 50 yards and, after about 25 minutes, I saw a coyote on another ridge about 400 yards away. I used my sqeaker to let him know I saw one, but couldn't relay that I needed some volume. I tried lip squeaking with my hands as a megaphone, and finally grabbed my Tweaty and went full bore. Didn't do the trick, but it was all I could think of. Was kinda curious if anyone has any thoughts on walking over your caller.

If you pick up a coyote and your caller cant work him,Take over. This ought to let the caller know your picking up from there and he can stop his sequence. Nothing at all wrong with helping out.

P.S. A coyote can hear a mouse squeak from a 1/4 mile away,i would think a radio would be a disaster . Have you had luck with them? Just curious.

Actually, one of the guys I hunt with bought a pair of Cobra hand helds from Sportsmen's Warehouse that has the vibrate mode. It works OK for communicating, when both hunters have them on. We figured out a code for relaying info: Vibrate when you see one, vibrate back when the other hunter picks it up. Click once for N, twice for E, three times for S, four times for W. The roger scratch is still audible, but not very. We've only used it once, but it sure makes things easier. I don't have the gumption to try using them to talk with. Sure seems like the critter would be able to pick out the sound.
